Hey folks,

similar to the (unofficial) uthgard disord channel (down in my signature), I've created a Discord channel for Midgard to connect together and improve our communication.

Let's try to get everyone on board there, because:

- Not everyone is using the LFG channel
- Low-levels have a hard time finding a group
- Trade channels
- Have a global chat! (since the devs don't wanna give it to us )

Verification
You need to contact me ingame with you discord name in order to be verified, otherwise you won't be able to speak/read/use voice. This is to prevent x-realming and to be certain we have only Mids on discord.

After trying the ingame method and having it not work well I'm willing to give anything else a try. Of course I do play NA time zone but its been a solo experience so far apart from the 1 group I've found which died due to lack of heals to be found.

its not much different from irc

We've reached over 100 members in under a week, some are still not verified. Spread the word.

I don't know about that; when Mids raid in Hibernia, Albs spam in irc/hib discord about this activity.

Just curious, but why didn't you just make 3+ sub channels in the unofficall uthgard discord for mid hib alb? I feel multiple discords divides the community. I found this problem with an alliance of mine im in on another game.

I suppose yes, it reduces the privacy​ and segregation, but allowesl for easier chat for new players such as my self.

The community should be divided in their specific realms. Uth Rule 2.8: "Intentional cooperation of players between different realms is not allowed. This includes arranged duels and realm point farming."

If you want a community for all chat, join the uth irc.

I fail to see how realm-specific subchannels of the pre-existing Uthgard Discord would confront that rule (unless we can't verify people in sub-channels only while allowing everyone on the main channel?). It's too late now, all realms already have their specific Discord, but with a forum and an IRC channel already set up, the Uthgard Discord is just another cross-realm discussion platform with offline history and vocal features. It would be ideal to just have realm subsections there, as here on the forum, for vocal channels (with verification as Riyu implemented on the Midgard Discord, for obvious reasons).

Although I think a single Discord with subchannels would have been best to make Discord popular within the playerbase and gather the most people, I really am grateful to Riyu for the Midgard Discord channel he set up. However, I kind of feel the same as Blue about the LFG channel: the only way to make a grouping assistance efficient is to use a single pathway instead of splitting information, and since it has to be available in game to people not aware of tools out of the game, that is the /lfg tool. This is different for crafting or trade for instance, since it can be useful to discuss these even out of the game and to have a persistent history of messages, so Discord benefits in addition to in-game chats and market are clear here. Discussing xp groups while not in game is far less relevant, so why not focusing only on the in game /lfg?

Cause the ig lfg tool is bad. You need to be logged in on the char you are looking for groups and in 99% of the time the grp leader will not see anyone looking for grp if he tries to use it even though there are ppl registered in the lfg tool.
