Necros can not use buff potions in shade form. I tested Elixer of Enlightenment, Elixir of Dexterity, and Improved Elixir of Replenishment.
Necros should be able to /use any potions while in shade form. The only items that a Necro should not be able to use in shade form are charges that cause damage since a shade can not cast damaging abilities/draw aggro outside of his pet.
1. Roll a Necro
2. Summon Pet
3. Attempt to use buff potion (Elixir of Enlightenment etc)
Enable the alchemy potion line as well as item charges that grant stat buffs to be usable in shade form.

Here is an old screenshot where it shows I had just used an endurance potion in shade form. As well as shows the buffs from potions at the top of the screen.
