On my enchanter, I pull with the ranged pet. I can stand in front of the pet and a mob that the pet has been nuking will not swing at me as it goes by.
1. Make an enchanter that can cast the nuking pet.
2. Have it pull a mob from range, and hit (so it has clear agro)
3. Stand in front of the pet, so it could hit you on the way by. The mob will not swing at you.
The incoming mob should swing at members of the agroing party as they come in if they haven't gotten to the puller yet. I've noticed that they don't in parties, and when I solo and they could have hit me on the way to the pet.
I'm sure this isn't normal behavior because all of my support toons in the past made sure not to be between the mob and the puller, and my tanks would try and take that hit on the way by as an opportunity for a reactive. Neither one of these seem to apply now.
