When a necromancer servant is interrupted, instant spells (such as applying the necro's HoT spell) are also removed from the cast queue.
It's a fairly short window, but it can be reliably reproduced.
Between you casting your HoT to completion and the HoT instant being cast by your pet, if your pet gets one of his spells interrupted -> HoT instant will not be cast and the effect will not be applied.
Combat log:
Note the 'your pet enters a meditative state' is missing even though the Regenerate Flesh spell was cast to completion. This is due to the pet's Glimpse of Fate being interrupted at the same time.

1. Cast your Heal Over Time spell to completion
2. Have your pet cast a spell that gets interrupted at the same time
3. The HoT effect will not be applied. It is seemingly forgotten.
The Heal Over Time effect should be applied regardless of the pet's spell being interrupted.
The only proof I have is that this is incredibly counter-intuitive and people who played necros on live agree with me.
