Using a weapon with spec weapon = level 1 or none makes you swing at 25%min 125%max damage variance without using any styles, let's say the base dmg. That isn't the case on uthgard, it feels more than 25% on the lower numbers of damage, the threshold is set on a higher value variance when being specced only level 1 or none(staves). It works on all melee classes i've tried, alb & hib, Bows i haven't tested yet.
My issue is related only to no spec level 0 or spec level 1 weapon lines,
speccing high weapon lines to your character's level does up the base damage unstyled properly on uthgard beta.
1. get a class level20 specced 1blunt and 20pierce.
2. Equip blunt & pierce of same SPEED(or very close) and effective DPS.
3. Swing at a blue or green mob, always the same as a reference using both weapon types blunt & then make another round of test on pierce. Watch the MINIMUM damage of level 1 blunt spec being over the 25% compared to the MAX damage of lv20 spec pierce that represents 125%.
Not being able to train staves or training only level 1 should make MINIMUM base damage hit for 25% from weapon's value and not higher than 25%. I suggest to check weapon coding, I steal aggros from tanks , i am being speced 1 pierce and full Celtic. Imagine the abusive specs in RVR with that coding meaning Higher values than it should be from PA stealth classes using staves, or the mid 2Handed / or even an abusive wall of defense from warriors hero armsmen going full parry shield and only taunt styles level 6/8 spec when they are level 50. This issue does break the game.
Look at Blue's answers,
Uthgard:
spec 1: 75% - 125% => 66% visible variance
http://www.uthgard.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=25675
That shows that it isn't 25% 125%, unless i am wrong in the issue...
