When SI launched, humanoid mobs there dropped randomly generated items as loot. The drop rate was pretty low (like 5%) but these items could be worn, and many could be salvaged. It was an alternative to camping DF to get salvage for crafting. Shortly after that, but long before TOA came out, this randomly dropped loot was extended to the frontier. I have been hunting humanoid mobs on the frontier for the last 18 levels, and not one of them has ever dropped random loot. At first I thought some might be, but I have been able to reproduce most of what I had thought were random drops.
1. Go to the frontier.
2. Hunt humanoid mobs.
3. Any loot they drop will be pre-determined off their drop table. No randomly generated items will drop.
Implement the randomly generated loot function for all humanoid mobs in the frontier. That way adventurers and crafters will have a place to reliably find items that may be of more use to them than what is dropping now.
I remember camping humanoid mobs in both SI, and later, in the frontier for salvage and jewelry. You know they dropped it; if you don't want to implement this, you will be leaving out a valid mechanic, and one of my favorites.
