forest servant switches to melee mode for no reason when mob is close
1. summon a forest servant
2. stand close to your forest servant
3. attack a mob with a DD and command your forest servant to attack the mob
(just to br sure your servant does not have aggro)
4. Watch your forest servant switch to melee mode when mob is close enough
forest servant should cast till rupted
just my experience from live servers
