DOT spell times are not affected by resistances just the damage they do
1. Make Class that can DOT
2. DOT different mobs
3. See that it ticks different number of times beside 6 on occasion
Patch 1.51 http://camelotherald.wikia.com/wiki/Patch_Notes:_Version_1.51
Clearly states--- Hostile duration effects (debuffs, mez, stun, etc) are now affected by resistances as originally intended. Durations of sleep effects (mez, stun, etc) are also now properly affected by level variance, so that low level players casting on higher level players will get less duration from their spells.
And--- DoT spells are now properly affected by resistances to bring them in line with DD spells.
And---Increased damage and decreased duration and frequency of Shaman and Druid DoTs. They still do 6 ticks, but over a shorter period of time.
I don't know what server you did your tests that you posted on the closed issue but you are wrong about this. I played live for over 10 years and the ONLY way resistances affect DOTs is damage per tick..

Also nowhere in here does anyone talk about more resistance equals less ticks.. only mention of resistances is to lower damage.
I tried to find if maybe they changed it somewhere down the line but I played shaman 2003-2012 and resistances just lowered timers on CC and debuff spells not DOTs
