As a solo S/S armsman, i was able to guard and protect a solo caster not in my group, by first grouping the caster, setting guard/prot and then disbanding. Both the Protect and Guard icon remained on my buff bar.
The caster pulled several rooters at the Yarley farm, and I did block attacks for the ungrouped caster, and also received the "distract" message if i attacked the same rooter that she pulled. This shouldn't be possible and is potentially exploitable.
The same issue did not exist for intercept, which dropped immediately from my buff bar after disbanding with the caster.
Also note, that for guard, I never blocked until i actually assisted in attacking the mob (as a second solo character), but i'm not sure that i ran enough tests to prove that being engaged in the attack was also a prerequisite for the guard quote to kick-in.
1. Make a S/S tank with guard/intercept and another character
2. Group them, having the tank set guard and protect
3. Disband the duo, observing the tank buff bar still shows guard/protect set for the 2nd character
4. Have the second character pull a mob with the S/S tank within range for guard.
5. Observe that the S/S tank will guard block while ungrouped. Perhaps you will need to join the attack for the guard blocking to kick-in.
6. Once joining the attack, also observe the protect "distract" message for the 2nd character.
Guard/Protect should drop the moment that the guarded/protected character is no longer in the group with the tank providing these abilities.
Apologies, but no ability to upload a screenshot. This should be easy to reproduce if you follow the steps above.
