Attempted to test Volcanic Pillar RA on an alp luachra in emain who was out of range. The ability did not fire but the 15-minute recast timer was activated.
1. Make lvl 50 wizard with Volcanic Pillar RA.
2. Port to emain
3. Target an alp luachra on hill nearby APK while standing at the front keep door.
4. Activate Volcanic Pillar while way outside of spell range
4. Observe that the ability doesn't fire and the message received says "target is too far away"
5. Observe that the 15-minute recast timer is activated.
The ability should not fire nor should the recast timer be activated if the target is out of range.
I looked across various references and could not find direct proof. But I'm sure that I would have seen some wizards complaining about the RA if it wasn't protected from an un-fired recast timer, and i didn't see any ... that should be proof enough!
