while trying to talk to a guard for a task whenever I use the forward slash key or / before typing my character immediately spins while remaining in the same place.

I am no sure if this is a common daoc bug or just here on uthgard. Maybe just fixing the key bind associated with the forward slash key.
I just know by logging in game and typing / key any character I have immediately spins
