The server was experiencing lag. I traded a staff with a group mate, finished getting some xp, ran from the Myrkwood werewolf fort back to Galplen, and trained. When I logged in the next day, I was back in the werewolf fort with less experience, no staff, and my training undone. My old staff (that I traded for a new staff) was also missing. I was a Kobold without a staff. It was very sad.
1. Trade with another player while a server is experiencing lag.
2. Log out.
3. Log in the next day and check inventory.
I don't know the technical details, but for whatever reason, traded items are not maintained after the server gets rocky. A similar incident happened to a friend, and another individual sent me a private message suggesting a similar experience.
My staff was gone. I don't know how to provide evidence for this. If I took a screenshot before, it would suggest that I anticipated a roll back, item loss, etc.
