For the longest time I've noticed how expensive, power-wise, it is to keep a pet charmed on Uthgard, as a mentalist. At first I thought this was just my memory playing tricks with me, since it's been quite some time since I played DAoC prior to Uthgard, but I then had a closer look at all of the charm spells and noticed something of importance. They're all supposed to "tick" every 10 seconds, and at that time drain the specified power from your power pool, but instead of ticking every 10 seconds (as the tooltip and information states), the charm pulses tick every 3 or 4 seconds. This makes it a lot more power expensive than it should be?
1. The result is the same no matter what mob you've charmed, nor which charm spell you're using (as long as you're using the correct spell type for the mob's creature type, of course).
2. Find a mob and charm it.
3. Watch your new pet and notice how often it "sparkles". This is how often the charm spell pulses, "ticks". Way faster than every 10 seconds.
Look over all the mentalist charm spells and make sure they pulse, or "tick", every 10 seconds.
The Uthgard charbuilder indicates that the pulses/ticks should be 10 seconds apart -- http://play.nixian.eu/index.php?page=charbuilder&class=mentalist
Uthgard's own in-game tooltip/info indicates the same -- http://www.dumpt.com/img/viewer.php?file=fpm17v7slbhqx838xpf8.jpg
I'm sorry, but that's all I can seem to find on the subject.
