You can enter combat mode when on a horse when clicking on a weapon style.
It does not work with the 'toggle combat mode'-button (there you get the correct error message), just when using a style.
1. get on a horse
2. click on a weapon style
3. you enter combat mode and can hit mobs in range from the horse!
You should not be able to enter combat mode when on a horse.
