When doing the quest "Storyteller's Tale" (Hibernia), you have to talk to "Kaylee" at some point. You get the item "Letter to Kaylee", so that she believes you / talks to you.
When talking to Kaylee (with the quest item in the inventory), she talks to you without you having to give her the letter. She dosen't greet you, she goes immediately to the business. After the talk, you still have the letter.
After finishing the quest, the letter is still there, too.
1. Start the quest "Storyteller's Tale".
2. Talk to Kaylee.
3. Notice that you still have the letter.
4. Finish the quest.
5. Notice that you still have the letter.
After talking to Kaylee, the letter should be gone.
I'm not sure if you had to hand her the letter in Live 1.65 (http://camelot.allakhazam.com/quests.html?cquest=82 isn't explicit about this) or if it worked just by talking to her.
But in any case, the letter should be gone after getting to the next step (i.e., after talking to her). You don't need the letter for the rest of the quest (and of course also not after completing the quest).
(There might also be missing dialog, as it seemed off how the talk with Kaylee started, but that's just a guess.)
