Friar's should receive new Robes every 5 lvls (5,10,15,20,25) if they hand in the old one.
Since my old issue was flagged invalid because of an misunderstanding
1. Get Friar to lvl 10
2. Go to Camelot Trainer
3. Try to hand him your old Robes
Once you hit lvl 10, the trainer should open a dialog in which he tells you, that u can hand him the old set of robes and get a new one. Last one received at lvl 25.

Search for "robe" to find relevant posts. These are clearly before they introduced the new class gifts, which came with 1.70 (June 22 2004).
