Cabby noob here

Im up to lvl 16 on my cabalist, 3 in spirit and rest matter per my findings. However, I dont find recycle to do anything for me? Summoning pet costs more power than it returns to me, so what am I missing?

try it with amber pet, but should work with the others too

Focus staff. Without focus, recycle is a waste of mana.

what exactly is a focus staff? My current staff gives like 4 int, 1 power, and nothing else I dont think. Im only lvl 16

Some staff have some magic properties named Focus. A Focus is applied to one magic skill with a level limit. Focus have an effect on base spell lines.

Let's say that you have a focus staff of 20 spirit. Any base spell level 1-19 spirit will be cast using only 80% of the mana cost of the spell. Any 20-50 spirit spells will cost 100% mana of the spell.
If you have no focus at all on a magic line,all costs are 120% of the spell mana cost.

With a correct lvl focus, the cost of pet summoning will be reduced from 25% to 20% of your mana pool
Without focus, the cost is increased from 25% to 30%.
20% vs 30%. You spend 50% more mana by summoning a pet without Focus.

Example of such a staf

Amber Sim is a lvl 1 spell and reclaim pet lvl 3, so in reality all you need is a staff with 4 lvls of spirit focus and you're maximizing the benefit, right?

That's what i remember. But memory is not a sure way to preserve knowledge. So it may be wrong.

I just bought the 5g staff that has 7 spirit levels. I'm casting lvl 1 simulcrum and then lvl 3 convert spirit, but after summoning with full pow and casting convert I still don't go back to full. What am I doing wrong?

for me it never gets you all the way full. stops at 96% for whatever reason. if you're using convert and amber pet you're doing it correctly. focus makes it more efficient like others have said.

its just crap at low levels because your power pool is crap at low levels. as you get higher your power pool increases so the effect improves over your power pool. i.e for example if you had 100 power pool and you was gaining back 5% from recycle then if your power pool points was 200 then you would get back 10%? i think dunno lol in my head it sounds right... either way at low level i noticed it was pointless recycling but at 23 its getting better with same staff....
