Im reading the best spec should be 44 thrust 42 shield 46 Chants (no AT)
So if im going for Thrust its Saracen as race huh?

How to set the start attributes?

Should i also lvl as Thrust or should i go something else?

Cool and all, but I'd rather not waste the freebie 77 points into slash just for a snare.

i had a 7L pally on old uth and tried both thrust and 2h/slash specs

thrust got a really imba snare (almost 30 seconds) but is a chain on a detaun style (no to hit bonus) so it is really hard to snare enemies especially if they have a good defense (evade or shield) cause you need to hit em 2 times each.... and if they are more than 1 becomes a serious job. You are almost ever forced to slam and then snare (3 hits).

Slash got a side snare, not much durable but easy to land, if you're good and with a fast shield you can slam and snare 3 ppl before their slams are out. Plus you have your autotrain points and can spec 39 2h for backsnare, this is my favourite rvr spec for pally.... but is hard to template and you can have only 42 chants (red endu).

We have to see if paladins are really useful in rvr anyway

There are several discussions about the usage of Palas in 8 man RvR setups.
There is one general argument FOR one Pala in an 8 man setups (Endurance) and several arguments against Palas in 8 man setups (no det, chant range, no chant while Mezz and many others).
Due to no Detemination Palas running offensive in an melee assist train is no proper role (CC him + push and you got a useless overextended Pala).

Therefore the only acceptable (at least for me) role a Pala in an 8 man setup is a defensive peel bot saving the support classes (Cleric, Sorc, Caba, Theurg) as good as possible and reducing the endu pot usage for them.
The 44 thrust snare is one argument FOR a Pala in such a role.

My personal favourite would be a Saracen 44 thrust, 42 shield, 46 chants (if interested in RvR at any time).
I guess, I would go for 10 dex, 10 konsti, 10 quick (higher chance to rupt trough pbt and faster peel snare), I don't think 10 piety would be worth it, neither Strength.

My personal race choice is Saracen: 90dex 60str 60con

Spec Crush/Thrust while leveling, autotraining slash is easy so might as well make the most of it. I plan on going 50 shield 48 chants 34 slash at 50. Perfect for PvE and farming which is obviously job number 1 and the lack of thrust snare isn't going to hinder me in RvR at all. Later on when I'm fully SC'ed etc I may switch to 42 shield but I'm really not sure the trade-off is that important.

What to peel with? 12 second sidestyle snare?
Yes your spec is perfect for PvM, but stop dreaming about your efficiency in 8x8 RvR (not talking about Zerg RvR or small man ).

I went with Avalonian Paladin AT until 36 for the 44 thrust 42 shield 47 chant 3 parry 12 Slash (AT) spec.
I went with +12 qui +13 strength I think.
Once RR 5 (if ever) I would roll 2-hander/slash

Also used a respec stone to AT chants again at lvl 48 in order to get 1 more point in slash at RR5:

42 chants
39 2-h
32 slash
42 shield
2 parry
0 skill points left to spend.

If I would have AT-ed from 36-48 it would have taken considerably more time (no-PL) and I would have had 6 in parry instead of 2, so +2% parry.
