What is the best race and spec for solo skald?

I was thinking going dwarf due to the size and resists but the strength the troll has is hard to pass up even if they are way too big.

Yea, if you are going to mainly solo as a Skald, I would go Troll. You get aug str5 for free, and dont sacrifice charisma stat to get it. In other words, your shouts will hit just as hard.

But won't the size of a troll make it a lot harder to solo over a dwarf? Can see them a mile away

Plus running around with 31% body resist as a dwarf would be really nice against minstrels and asassins

Its up to you, but ask yourself the question, does the character size matter more than having free aug str 5 on a strictly 2 hand class?

If you're going to solo mostly, every point matters.

Body resists>STR resists.

You will have to kite most 1v1's anyway. Lifebane and minstrel DD will be a big portion of the damage you receive. The extra con and body resists help alot too in 8v8 since alb root is body.

I like troll too, but i'm not sure the size in rvr is worth the STR - let's not forget slower swing speed and less dex=less defense.

In 8v8 skalds aren't there for damage either, so.. and being a troll is a bigger target to pick to root on inc.

I tried every single race for skald (yup all levelled to 50) on live back in the day and the differences were negligible damage-wise.

Yes you hit a bit harder as a troll etc, but you might as well paint a bullseye on your arse
