What does a Focus staff do?

If I have 37 mana focus on a staff, does this reduce mana cost for lvl 1-37 mana spec spells?
Does this work on 37 base mana spec and below, or would it work on 32 base +5 mana skill? If I had 50 mana spec + 1-11 mana skill, and a 50 mana focus staff...would the staff be useless? |

So, no one knows what it does? Wouldn't this be an important thing to know as a caster?

As far as I know, only the spelllevel is relevant - the +skill (compisite skill) doesnt matter at all.
But I might be terribly wrong.... |

In my understanding, +focus will reduce mana costs while +skill will reduce variance of baseline damage spells for casters.
Never ran any tests though, nor do I know that the exact number of +focus will impact how much less mana is used. “DAOC is not about what you can log. It's about what you can play :> ”

Your focus level needs to be same or lower than your spell level. Then your casts will take less mana.
If you have a lvl37 mana focus and you use e.g. your lvl39 bomb you will not gain any mana benefit from your staff. Your spell level has to be lower or equal to your focus. |
