Wondering how the Mentalist will be in Uthgard 2.0. I was thinking of rolling a mana ment for leveling, raiding, and rolling with the zerg in RvR. Is the dot damage effective at 1.65? Haven't played DAOC in forever.

Yeah they are a great addition to anything due to the mana regen and heal over time spells. The AoE DoT is good in keep / relic raids but not welcome in open RvR due to it being anti-crowd control.

Do you guys know if mana mentalists get realm points with their hitpoints regen spell?

I rolled a light mentalist to 5 and used the lvl 4 light charm spell and blue mobs were to strong to charm.
Clearly that is not right. https://www.uthgard.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37632
Players can greatly contribute to a server if you let them. Uthgard, still the best server. Thanks, Devs. |

Did you try to charm a "humanoid pet" or something else?
Afaik the menta light spec works this way: level - mana per tick - charmable monster 4 - 1 - humanoid 10 - 2 - animal 17 - 3 - insect 25 - 4 - magical creature 33 - 5 - undead 42 - 7 - demon ofc you use for a humanoid always the spell from level 4 ![]() (maybe i'm wrong - feel free to share your knowledge) |

So when you use the level 4 charm at level 50 to charm a humanoid... does that mean with a side spec of level 4 light you are able to charm a decent pet at level 50? Or will the low light spec level prevent you to do so? On the sorceress on live servers the maximum charm level was depend on the skill level, but if the skill level is used for the pet race... @_o

A Menta at level 50 with a light spec of 4 + X from gear + X from RR will only have a grey (humanoid) pet.
Afair you need a composite light spec of 53 to charm a level 50 pet (skill 56 for level 51, skill 59 for level 52... ). Don't know ho it is below level 50. Usually you level with mana and respec at 50. Ligth spec for XP will be hard - groups want you for heal over time and mana reg. Schatz, sollen wir heute grillen?

At least that would make sense.

Dont even bother until you can charm a level 55+ mob without having to spec over 45. AKA AT LEAST RANK 5. If you have a group you run with that runs a heat train, well thats different. But planning your spec as 50 light 20 mana, lowers your power regen, and only gives you a yellow/blue mob (even with the free +11 light with spell crafting a template). Wait till you can run 45/24 mana/rest mentalism and use the +15 minimum from realm rank, to charm decent pets. Its when you get RR10 that it starts getting fun. Just for trolls and wiggles, I had a R11 menty, went 50 light, and ran around with a grape mindworm and would use the pet to stun my targets because it would NEVER get resisted. And because I was +21 to light, (71 composite) I held that pet and NEVER got resist chains. The only people that use signatures with actual information only proves they think they are better then everyone else.
Pweet - Go suck your own. The GMs dont need your sucking. |

You can't really compare live experience with Classic/Uthgard. Not classwise, not pet-wise and also not because of the lack of BBs.
My advice for every Menta looking to get 50 asap: choose Mana and respec at 50. Mana is fun and you'll easily farm for your first SC-Armor. If you want to go Light after that, imho there's no need to get above 46 Light if you want to play competitive. Why? For almost every occasion (solo, smallman, 8v8), you will need 28 Mentalism-Specc for Demezzing (if I remember correctly). There are ofcourse fun (red) pets you will miss, or only get at high RR, but tbh, most of the useful pets are below or exactly level 50 ![]() |

Heya,
imho one of the main questions: Regarding you wanna play Light-Ment @ RvR in the endgame and you choose Menta as your first/main char- what''s the masterplan then? Respec @ 40 to Light and go straight for rvrspec? Then you wouldn't have any real char @ 50 for pve-farm to get your sc -> you would need a 2nd char, e.g. druid, for pve-farm. Or - don't respec, go mana until you have farmed your sc. But in this case you won't do any 8vs8, only zergfights as youre still mana. what's the best play here for uth 2.0? thanks! Atum / Talmar
