Warden and RVR

Hello,
I rolled a warden without thinking of the status of the class in 1.65 ![]() I was a bit surprised to not find celerity or shield to be honest haha. I was wondering if warden is still accepted in RVR ? My understanding is that some people do not consider taking one, and others say that it is quite usefull with additional heals/rupt/bubble/red resists. What do you guys think ? I guess I will at least be well wanted in PVE for farm groups or SH or drake/galla (someday ![]() |

Hi Aryl,
Wardens are still somewhat viable in RvR at 1.65, provided you go with 49 Nurture for the highest resists (also with high regrowth for a group build). Don't expect to always be invited to RvR groups as they are not 'cookie-cutter', with other classes sometimes being preferred. Having said that, PBT is useful against Mid melee heavy groups, as are the red resists which cut the duration of Mid/Alb's main forms of CC. Warden baselines with high nurture are also slightly more effective than the Bard counterpart, with the added benefit of the group not losing them when the Bard gets assist-trained by the enemy at the start of the fight :p Once you learn the class and play it well the Warden can be a solid choice with good interrupts (especially when you pick up TWF later), powerful heals which can back up the group when the Druids are under fire and the ability to pet clear or peel enemies away from squishies with your side-snare style (10 in Blades). Most of all, you have got to feel you enjoy the class. If you do, take it to 50 and you will have fun ![]() |

Agree with Zak here.
I am playing warden (not yet L50 but aiming nurt 49 and reg 33) and I see the role as a real be alert and adapt kind of thing. As Zak mentioned sists are nice. Play 3rd healer so need to watch both health and other healer mana levels. Pet clearance but also with scale (thus a little toughness) the chance to push on to enemy casters/healers to act as interupter should your group be on the front foot. OK I am not going to solo them down but I can be a downright nuisance. By the same token PBT may need to become dam add if you are in a tank group and looking to have the advantage. Of of course the reverse is all true should the group need some defensive cover. This is not going to be a glory class. No mega damage no life saving heals but that does not mean it is not useful. Those who know me know I am more of a smash and ugh type person but I think this has the chance to be challenging but effective. Na Fianna Dragun

Thanks guys, that was my understanding as well.
I will go 49 nurture 33 heals and rest blade/parry. Worst case scenario I have a pve toon to stuff my hero later ![]() |

I'm planning to make a Healing spec Warden with the following Specializations:
45 Regrowth 40 Parry 18 Blade *Remaining Nurture (19 according to Uthgard Charbuilder) The reasoning behind this is I want to be a healer with good heals, but also be fairly tanky. Everyone seems to go with Nurture as a Warden. I understand why. I'm curious as to whether anyone has actually ever played Regrowth spec Warden at high lvls. What I lack in Bladeturn and buffs I intend to make up for with better heals. Not as good as a Druid's heals, but somewhat competitive and certainly better heals than a Nurture Warden. I know Regrowth Wardens are rare or non-existent. Can anyone who has had experience with it tell me their thoughts? |

Never tried a regrowth warden so it will be interesting to see how this works out - please report back.
I wonder why they would take a regrowth warden over a 2nd druid (if you have not got the diff resists to a decent level or pbt or dam add) I am not sure quite where the toon fits in. What are your thoughts in terms of group make up and tactics? I suspect for RvR druid and bard are gimme's so you have to offer something for your spot. No shield ability but you have scale. No pbt but good heals. Are you a 3rd healer (but a good one) who runs interference? Or are you an outright heal support role so others can focus only on the damage element? XP (tank orientated) grp in SH this evening had no druid (and thus no specs or big heals) but had 2 wardens running pbt and dam add. That on the face of it looked odd but worked ok so I rule nothing out. Na Fianna Dragun

Warden can't cure disease, so don't expect so much to play as a second druide

As was already mentioned, healers tend to be desireable targets because they can heal the group. Assuming atleast one other healer is alive I suspect that the Warden will be hard to kill. While I haven't played this game before, I have played other games where making the enemy essentially waste damage on a tanky target can be a valueable asset.
I don't know if I'm misjudging the tankiness of Warden. I don't expect they will be as tanky as Hero, but I expect atleast mid-range tankiness, better than leather wearers for sure. The passive healing from Solar blessing would help in this regard. The lack of Shield spec is bad, but I assume I will still get the base block chance. From what I've read the formula for Parry and Block are similar as it relates to how the spec affects the block and parry chance respectively: base+ 0.5 * Shield spec +additional modifiers base+ 0.5 * Parry spec +additional modifiers |
|
I have strong doubts about specing like that. Nobody will waste time to kill you if you parry a lot. they will rupt you and kill the other healers and then kill you.
and if they assit on you i doubt they will hit your face from the front, your parry won't do good with two savages or zerks blasting you from behind. People take wardens in rvr for resists or pbt, if you spec regrowth like you suggested (40 parry) it is just worst heals and no doubles, I don't see the point. |

Hello Geff. First heal menta and now heal warden. ![]() I played 49 nurt, 42 reg, 10 blade, 8 parry and I can say more than 33 reg doesn't worth going. The last major heal is hard to use effectively, burn your power quickly while overhealing most of of the time. Impossible if you are pushing to interrupt even, you will be interrupted when surrounded by enemy casters trying to cast it. Usually quick baseline is better than major. Without BoF, casters die when assisted before you finish casting. I also think you are doing a lot of "paper daoc". 45 for self health regen? Regen has a huge penalty in combat, you will not even notice when you forgot casting it on yourself. No comment on 40 parry and not having pbt+resists. I'm sorry but it's even worse than heal menta. ![]() |
