crush if u wanna spec to slash later, slash if u wanna spec to crush later..(autotrain..) with shield u can help castertypes in your group, without your damageoutput increases..
Realm versus Realm means:
Everybody of some Realm, against everyone of the other Realms..

Take a crush pole, and use crush, crush doesnt have autotrain, so you dont loose any points. You could try 50 pole, 44 crush others in parry. As you said, you stun with your hammer, so you dont really need any shield. 3 pts in shield would be usefull though, to interrupt casters, if they are trieng to quiccast.

If you use a crush pole your base damage depends on your crush specc. So you need to keep it up. But you can just use polearms styles, so you have to specc in it also. This is different from other realms. Hibernia just need to specc one line if they want to use Twohanded weapons. Same with Midgard, they can even switch between Onhand and Twohand and use the same damage line.
A popular specc is: 50 pole, 39 crush/slash, 42 shield, rest parry. The 42 shield anytime slam is definatly handy sometimes.
Or you do 50 pole, 50 crush/slash, 27 parry, 10 shield. Just enough shield to get engage but a bit more damage and parry. But you should not rely on parry anyway. Either slam and backside chain and the target is dead, or you are making something wrong anyway.

You'll get a Respec at level 20 and 40. Type /respec to see if you have one available. To use it go to your trainer and type /respec <line> (e.g. /respec crush). You might even have a Full Respec available which can be used to re-distribute all your points by typing /respec all.
Happy hunting!
