Hello. ( warning, lengthy post of concern)

I would like to address a certain problem i had in the game today(2:30-3:00pm[est]).

but first a tiny intro:

My wife and I found this little corner of the internet, and it showed some appeal to us. ( we have been gaming since around '96, online) We started two toons on uthgard, played for night....and liked it. I made a pally and she later made a cleric.

Both named Tolwyn, Tolwynn. ( we ALWAYS name our toons, since 1996, with 'tolwyn/tolwynn/tolwynne' names. Hence one of our email contacts.

We told our kids about Uthgard, who also games with us online(eq1/eq2/GW/Daoc.etc.etc.) we have 3 kids.( all of "age", heh)

They wanted 'in' too.

So this brings us to today..at around 2:30-3:00(est) i log in mine and my wifes toons(pally and cleric), we are near mithra, I dash inside and STAY up on top of stairs as to not die. I Go in each of the kids rooms and start up their comps and get rdy to install Uthgard. Kids get home and are psyched. ( kids get home from school this time everyday)

I tell them whats up. they are like 'cool!"

I pour some nice flammables on the grill and get ready to get dinner goin. wife calls, she is on her way home from work. even better. everyone will be installed , and logged in by the time dinner is done. all 5 of us. well 6 , a kid is bringing home a friend.

( btw- as any normal home should have, we have 7 comps here, networked, oh and xbox,xbox360 too....no biggie)

I come back to the screen to someone saying "Hello' in /say in mithra. I look and see Nayru above their head with a title Gamemaster. ( i must confess I didnt go to the boards or nothing...i just installed and played the night before with my wife..i didnt know there were 'gm's".

I say hello. and I recieve a reply in which I am accused of using a buffbot. I find this funny, b/c I was standing there afk for the longest time NOT playing(b/c I am not even at the keyboard, i am trying to help one kid with install, another with homework, yadda yaddsa), and this person just standing there waiting for a reply.

I reply with what was going on in my household and what our intentions were and that i was busy running around the house doing things to get 4 other kids logged on, 1 wife fed and whatnot, and i was merely loggin on these two toons ongame to get a headstart. wife would get home and start playing right away. ( of course I would still be out at the grill ) yip.

anyway.. one of my kids started chatting on the cleric, (well we tried) and we chatted some waiting for another kid to get done making an account. I was concerned about the accusation made a few moments earlier and this Nayru person was all of a sudden ....gone.

we decide to hit a creature and fight, the kid is getting bored what can i say.

we get add's and i yell "run!". we both ran out and lived. but on my way out i see someone making a comment in /say. Something like "instant replys ftw!"

I was a gm on eq1(lanys ty'vl), this action was all too obvious, probably a very young person,(17-35yrs old). this was obviously Nayru on an alt watching(name:Cantara). I told my kid to zone back in and did so myself. we chatted inside mithra s'more....but no Cantara chat anywhere to be found. I chatted to the 'air', but nothing. ( i was hoping this person(s) would have seen the 'evactuation' from mithra on both tolwyn/tolwynn's and noticed how we ran away. telltale sign of TWO people playing...NOT ONE!

I get ticked, I have alot to do, dinner, wife coming home, finish installs, blah blah....I go afk to do what i must. My kid stays, watchin tv as the game is on in front of him. As im checking the grill i hear a "hey Dad! c'mere".....I go in and see that somehow my toon(which NOONE is sitting at is in darkness falls with a bunch fo gm's around him, harrassing my kid to prove that he is two people) I LOL IRL. he asks me 'what do i do?"

I say do what they tell you...i leave room. He yells back out "they are having me jump around and want you to also!".....now mind you, my hands are covered in hamburger fat and grease....I knew exactly what was goin on...I run in....jump around Cantara, as my kid said they asked for....saw a 'fine' or soemthing that Cantara typed and ran back to the kitchen, thinking my obligation was done for the time being. I got upset with this BS and said I was busy and for Nayru/Cantara to recall what I JUST told them in mithra that i was busy with homework,installs and making dinenr and I would be a few.

I was MORE than happy to satisfy Nayru's request with the entire family showing we ALL play...for real. but she/he(nayru/Cantara) was all too sticken with the idea that it is impossible that families exist and actually play online togehter...and <gasp> may even possibly use the same prefixes and suffix in their names!

nope..no such luck, She wouldnt wait a few minutes. obviously she/he must have had time though....seeing that she/he brought two other people with her/him into DF, total people 4. I just start to get angry. I did indeed call her/him a name, which i apologize for, my kid didnt need to see that. But at this point I had alot goin on and just simply logged leaving my kid on my wifes toon.

I go back to burger making and check the grill....my kid walks by back into his room, ....so ,with a wad of hamburger meat in my hands, I walk back to my wifes comp and see the DEMANDS these gm's were making, to my 12 yr old, in chat prior to my toon logging.

they were asking him, why didnt he just make figure eights when they asked him. wiped my hands I started chatting.

first off I told Cantara/Nayru that they are talking to a comp with no-one at it again, second i told him I have another kid loggin on in cammy atm and would they like to see us all in Webcam view seperately or come into Vent chat with all of us.( i actually had a few questions about Uthgard for them, but it seemed they were On-This-Mission of sorts)...i started to loose patience once again with their UNWILLINGNESS to just simply view us all in webcam or chat with all of us in Vent.

I even gave them ideas on Tracing us and our IP's so they can actually 'see' for themselves.

nope...they wanted nothing to do with it. all they kept repeating was something about jumping and doing stuff they wanted my kid to do without me even there!

I finally told them, after dinner is done, and all the installs are done, and all the accounts are made and all 6, possibly 7 , of us are on, i will send them a tell or spam /gu to gain attention for this 'test' of sorts they wish to perform.

Im sorry...i know this is a rant, and I understand what Nayru/Cantara is/was trying to do. but this person does not listen too well, is also very very unaware of time zones and RL obligations parents have.

All i saw on the screen after I said I would be back was..."its too late, your name is flagged( or some term she/he used) and ....i lost the rest. screen closed to character selection screen.

Well. Be that as it may. the reason I came to Uthgard was to find a nice quiet server that my family and Guild can play on.

I even asked Nayru/Cantara...."don't you want more players on this server?".....meaning: when I mentioned i have an entire family coming ongame with nearly the same name, are we all gonna get harrassed like this all the time?!....let alone , bringing a guild from daoc to here. sheesh.

I just logged and stated: WE DO NOT CHEAT!....( sorry thats the way I took all the accusations, and the requests that were being posed to me/us at the time was impossible to acheive.)

It was like being asked by a policeman to walk a chalk line, but he gets to tie your shoelaces together first, then pushes you.



For future reference, I am GM of The Bears Of Oboo on Daoc/Merlin. I have several players interested in coming here, but i highly doubt taking the chance.

Chance? whatever could i mean:
* the chance: meaning, investing ALOT of time into playing a toon and merely having it shunned or deleted or messed with by 'staff'.

With my the first taste of a GM and the understanding and maturity in which Uthgard staff/GM's handle first time affairs, shows only that Uthgard cannot be the place to flourish and have fun with a community-driven Morpg.


Funny thing is: I was talking in GUIldchannel prior to goin afk,the first time in mithra...my next question up for bids was asking about donations to the 'cause'.

disappointing to say the least.

It is 4pm(est) I have been checking the grill and typing in spurts, I wanted to show screenshots of the conversation and demands Nayru/Cantara was making but they are not in my mythic or Uthgard folder. doesnt matter.

We will all log on right after dinner. That is, if we arent blocked/banned/deleted , which i surmize will be the case out of fear that we really ARE s-e-p-e-r-a-t-e players!


funny thing too....Nayru/Cantara was so adamant on a mere '2' toons that when i mentioned.."well why dont you just wait a few and check all 7 of us out!"....

All i got was ......dead...silence.



well..we'll be on in full force soon. lets hope this was just a shortsighting that should have never taken place and I can pass the word that Uthgard is worth checking out.

First of all, I am Nayru and not Cantara. Thats a different person.

Let's assume you really are an entire family playing mmorpgs.. there was only one person with 2 accounts logged in and that is not acceptable.

Your story looks fine, but there were several facts that we two were wondering about..
- Why the heck do 2 persons chose nearly the same names?
- Why do these 2 Persons chose nearly the same accountnames (haterakira and akirahater)?
- Why did you chat in the /say chat (mainchat) after i disappeared and warned you not to use buffbots, telling the /say that you are several persons the whole time with instant answers?
- Why do you chat when you sit next to each other?
- Why do you login your wife's account much earlier than she comes home when you want to gain some exp with your children (lvl1)?
- Why do you start to fight with your paladin with an afk-being cleric?
- Why couldn't you just jump when we asked you to jump? Why couldn't you just pass this little test?

And on top of that: You insulted us 2 as dumb persons (and thats only the tip of the iceberg...)

So anyway, even if you were several persons in the house, you were alone and logged in 2 accounts what is forbidden. There will be no discussion about that!

But sure, if you want to defend yourself, do it. But guess what: We are not stupid.

I forgot some other issue that really confused us..
You told me you are playing with your whole family since EQ1 (1996)..
So imagine your kid comes home from school.. How old are your children that you need to look after them by doing their homework? How old will they have been in 1996? Guess my thoughts?

we have a entire guild of tol's. TOLWYN is the wing commander ship/captian that was typo'd in the movie......the rest is history...tolwyn is just a choice from years and years ago.

ALWAYS been akiralover,akirahater,loverakira, haterakira on many many accounts...we have many many account on many many games and we use the same names...always..since 1996

instant what?...you were talking to me and a 12yr old. presently i have my 17 and 19 yr old ongame waiting for you.

becuase we are grouped and playing i guess...but when you first saw us....noone was on the comps that werre logged in..rmember...you were first talking to afk toons in mithra..NOT playing:)

she is home and ongame./...why? i logged her in, and she was 5 minutes away from home...whats the prob...I mentioned this several times.

Agaian you were talking to my kid with NOONE at my comp....but i did come back with grease all over my hands and jumped in circles , in tandem with my kids for you...then went back to making dinner.....of course that wasnt good enough...you asked for figure 8's to be done....well with me with hamburger meat in my hands ,...i had a hard time dealing with it..i logged..and my kid stayed on....

I only said that...and i apologize, b/c I had alot of things going on that i needed to finish and do so i could INDEED get to playing the game with my family.

I only answered you HONESTLY....I DID NOT lie. I could have sat my kid at the comp and we could have performed all kinds of tricks for you......but why?..i was just loggin on to get a jump on the gun...so my kids and wife could have dinner rdy and i could sit down with them to play...besides...we have to RUN all the way back to cammy to pickup and group the kids and a friend.

I never said you were. I only mentioned ealrier that 'youth' seemed to be the root of the accusations.

Tolwyn:
Understand that Uthgard doesnt tolerate usage of Buffbots and this rule is checked continously by our GM's and player who violate this rule get into jail. I would recommend to respect the staff when you plan to play on Uthgard any longer.

For me its ok if you show us with your webcam how you and your family member play Uthgard live. Be sure that we do regular checks. Look at the pic here http://www.teamwizzy.com/images/TW-DeskPic2.jpg to see that there are freaky people out there. We must check everyone that is suspicous to login with more than one account. This is a rule that will be enforced here. You as the player has to accept that.

so how do we play without being accused of buffbotting? two of us will be clerics, one rejuv one enhance......the third may be a smiter? or a fighter

we are trying for a solid fg. we have the numbers.

buffbotting was NOT occuring when Nayru appeared in front of ours AFK toons. heck we pulled after 5 minutes of limbo and had to run for our lives..lol

All we did was login two comps and no-one was at those keyboards at that moment and when someone was, the 'gm' was speaking to 2 comps with a predisposition of intent. no bots. all i did in reply to a gm's questioning was tell the truth about me and my family's intentions and that we were busy atm we were basically logged in, but d-o-i-n-g N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

nothing. heck....nayru was standing there wiaiting for a reply...we werent even there!

I assume if any one of us go afk ever again, or play a enhance or rejuv cleric( because all they do is stand around and cast one spell here and there)...that we will have to deal with this over and over? regardless of account names or toon names?

please tell me there is a vent channel we can join...or will you accept our vent channel info so you can monitor us without interuptions or questions?

we just wanna pve/rve when we have time...thats all( well the kid may enjoy rvr/pvp later on, but only 1 'knows' how to play).

i'm a father too, my two sons play this game with me, so there are times we arre all 3 online together, playing same lvl toons, supporting each other..

just make sure you report it on the forum, i know gm will come and have a look, and for them it's easy to see if chars are played or are sticking and buffbotting, they know the game and have enough experience to judge..

the whole situation you discribed seems rather hectic, and maybe i would have gone nuts too and called someone names

just remeber, this is a free server, they do their job for free, and if they don't do their job, players will whine and complane (i'm lucky my german is very bad, but if you look into some german threads on the forum.... omg!)

as you said, you where not logging your wife's account to get any profit out of it, it was just logged, my eldest son (Luv) has the bad habit of going afk, comming down from his roo to smoke, and sit next to me to watch the game.... so the situation is equal, but as i said, gm know we play from same ip (4 computers and 3 laptops in the house) but we try to stick to the rules, i'll never log in my son's char even if it is just to mule something, i'll chase him to his computer and ask him to log in if i need help..

i'm sure if you stick to this rules everything will work out fine, the community on uthgard is friendly and most of the people are honest, i'm glad GM are looking over our shoulder and filter the bad guy's

from my side, welcome and have loads of fun, just take the time to get things straight, as i read your post, maybe you rushed things a lot and got carried away..

ty... we finally got someone to help us. only 3 of us were patient enough to hang out and wait for response ingame. the others got disinterested and went on doing other things. They will log on on tomorrow. we had to postpone our gaming until tomorrow, for the most part. limited time here.

I only have about an hour or two to play.;\ and most of it will comprise 1 of our bunch being afk usually..the time we have to play is 'during and right" after dinner while homework is still goin on...so its inevidable that someone will be afk. and with two or three clerics, out of a fg playing, it WILL look like botcity! heck..we all wanted to roll a fg of clerics.



heh. like i said we are basically 'testing' the waters for others, from an 'unmentioned' game, to see how it all pans out.

The response today from the GM's, was prompt and friendly. We ran around in circles as they asked and /dueled a little bit in between too, mheh. but all in all I really wish all 6 or 7 of us could have been ongame together during that.

We are not some ubah players, from some ubah guild/server laying in wait to destroy a community or gameserver and make others experiences lame. We are just goofing off in Pve/Rve for some idle fun.

If it becomes something more, it will be on a guild sized basis and with several more than just my little humble family of 5.

first of all... welcome on uthgard ^^

after some years on uthgard i can tell you how i see the server.

i think it's a little community that becomes higher and higher, trying to avoid problems, keeping in mind to stay a community.

and gms and admins are there to check if there to help players and check if there are cheaters who could bring problems.

one of the problem is the buffboting that is not allowed on uthgard. to prevent the problem of BB or not, you can't log 2 accounts for a player even if it's just to mule (or you shouldn't)

a gm saw yours chars afk looking like BB... it was his job to check that. and as he got no reply from an account that meant there was nobody front of PC, so really looked like BB

if you were gm, you should agree it was his job to check that with some tests...

and if it was evident you were not buffboting and you let him doing his job and keep friendly, you won't have any problem.

i know it's very nice to be an afk cleric but you can't do that with 2 PCs in the same house. maybe things started bad for you on uthgard but i hope you'll get your place here and will enjoy your hours online.

if you already wanna level afk at level 10, you won't have fun leveling on uthgard. maybe better to rerol chars that are more fun to play. maybe try to do a char to play with family (bomber group for exemple) and another when you are alone or they are away... so you won't have anyproblem and will have more fun

if ever you need some help for leveling or others things, you can /send me in game.

if you wanna do a group that play usualy together why not... i remember some stealthers on alb or some wizards... i can't remember them name sry ^^

i was wondering the same about monty's familly...i am sure they logg on daoc to check if smdy of the familly is at home.
i got a girlfriend who got phone call from her mother that were in the same house just to tell us that dinner was ready...

Nayru is doing a very good job.
He is the most active GM to keep the server free of cheaters, botters etc.

I dont say you are cheating or buffbotting, but you realy should have people at the keyboards when you log in two accounts at the same time. When your wive is not there, dont log her account.

Its forbidden for one person to log in two accounts at the same time for a good reason. GMs must be able to tell the difference between a real player and a Bot. If i made a Bot, logged two accounts and then just could tell the GM "thats my wives account, she is afk preparing lunch, getting the children to school, shopping, bathroom ... etc" there would be no way for the GMs to know if its real.

So be sure that for every account you log in, there is a person at the keyboard. If a person has to go afk for a longer time, just log the account out.

I think everyone is a bit over-psyched about buffbots

When im running around with a half afk friend or family members, i nearly cant read the chat with accusations of buffbots

I think if your accused of buffbots you should get a bit more of a checkup than: Names a lill the same, ban em

You can run around with same names for fun , and when your married its typical to pick similar names

But by the love of god dont freak out about buffbots
Just cuz your a cleric doesnt mean your a frikin cheater

I have NO problem with families playing together, its real fun
But just cuz one of em is a cleric doesnt mean they have to get jailed orso

Having nearly the same acc names is simple: You have to make accs for your kids , wife , etc.... You want something thats easy to remind incase you lose em , no ?

It really gets on my nerves to go afk in tele keep for food or a toilet brake, and get back to have my chat log spammed...

Excuse me Lillian. You weren't there and you have got NO clue about what was going on. We normally don't accuse people and/or jail them without viewing what they do for a couple of minutes, sometimes when i want to be sure that it's not just somebody being afk I take a look after an hour again..

So please don't tell stories about issues you don't know..

We investigate every case carefully before we take actions. Nobody gets jailed when we are not sure.
