I have searched the forums, and only found 1 other person who had this problem. And he states he solved it...but does not say how.....
The game crashes just after I choose my character and is loading into game... help plz!

Is it crashing (i.e. exiting, possibly with an error message) or just freezing/hanging?

Things to try:

1) Deselecting Tutorial button (if present) on character creation
2) Run camelot.exe with complete file check
3) Install the latest graphics driver
4) Re-install DirectX
5) Remove your <character name>-<number>.ini file
6) Remove your user.dat file

You may want to make a copy of those files before removing them, so you can replace when that doesn't help.

I suggest this is put in FAQ or gets a new pinned post with fixing methods listed in Tutorial section.

T-Man, I think you may need a small edit in your "Download Daoc" thread. I believe you should suggest for users to run "Camelot.exe" after installing Darkness Rising, if one should decide to install it. After it is installed I believe your Daoc will be downgraded to the version of the DR files. If you already ran "Camelot.exe" before it creates conflicts with files(if versions for some reason do not match). Either that or just run "Camelot.exe" once after installing the Darkness Rising upgrade too.

PS. It is possible that you must run "Camelot.exe" update twice to get to latest version from scratch, though I wont redownload just to find out. :p
