I've been having a lot of trouble logging into Uthgard lately. I'm running DAoC w/ DR going in through DAoCPortal. I can connect to the server and choose my toon, but then the program hangs up on the load screen. I tried to log onto another shard thinking the problem was with the server but I keep having this issue.

I'm running an AMD 3200+, 512Mb Ram, 128Mb GForce FX 5200.

I spent some time reading the forums and didn't see anything that looked like it was addressing my problem, but I could have overlooked something. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

I use AVG but I have it and my anti-spy anti-adware programs disabled when I game. Windows firewall is a POS so its always disabled and I use my routers firewall instead. I change the settings to DMZ (all ports open bi-directional) and the problem still persists. But thanks for the idea Monty. Oh I left one piece of information out. I sometimes (very rarely) am able to actually play. Last update I placed on it was I think 1.87EU

I had the same problem on some computer (not mine) with almost same specs. I tried even different video boards on that comp and it didnt helped. It was exactly like your problem, and i didnt figured what was wrong till now. That was not a game install / files problem, that i can tell u for sure. Hope that u'll find what's wrong (and post it :) ). :idea:

not sure ... but may be those 512 mb ram ... :)

edit: and, check your tasks via taskmanager ... before connecting to daoc, maybe an error with a svchost.exe process (service host) makes trouble, it uses about 120 mb memory and about 90% cpu usage... this makes it almost impossible to log in ...

i had that problem once, was a conflict between my two soundcards AND windowsupdate AND alcohol 120% ... pretty nasty, but can be solved ;)

but, if everything is working correct ... don't know why you got those problems

i'm somethimes running daoc on a laptop with 256 Mb, and it runs smooth on Toa and low grphic settings, i'm talking abouth 12" asus laptop, onbord video card, no fancy stuff, just very small and light laptop, i used to play with 128Mb but that was laggy, but with 256Mb it realy goes fine for such a small thing, so i think it must be a conflict with video control driver or some program running in the background and blocking you..

as i posted before, daoc kept on crashing after login on my new pc, i tryed everything but it kept crashing, untill bullguard anti virus got replaced and now it runs fine..;
