Hi,

I tried out something today, logging on DAoC under linux.

1/ Tried once with Pirith account (Client 1.84 DR) gone to char selecting screen, choosed a toon then freesed.
2/ Tried a second time with Pirith account(client 1.84 DR) then error message : Your account has no access to any game.
3/ Tried a third time with Pirith account(client 1.87 lab) then error message : Your account has no access to any game.
4/ Tried to log on another DOL server (client 1.87 lab) gone to char select, picked up a toon, and was logged to game.
5/ tried another time with a second account on Uthgard (see 1/)
6/ etc with second account (see 2/ and 3/)

So, after that i suppose there is some counter mesure to catch crap like Radar or so that think my daoc version seems to strange to be allowed to enter the game.

Do i'm right ? (Feel free to PM me if it's secure infos)

Regards,

Pirith.

How solved? I was trying to get DAoC running using wine since many wine releases but never managed to get it running - memory exceptions all the time that seem to be caused by the dolloader. Could you explain what you did exactly to get it running? Would be so great to get IG again... ;D

I just tryed out another shard for test.
I use crossover, but it seems it work fine with cedega/winex.

Just have to be in the daoc folder (console) type wine dolloader.exe game.dll etc

But i'm issuing some cursor/icon bugs, but it run so damn smoothly, not even lag, nearly better than under windows.

There are indeed some hack checks active on uthgard that may prevent you from login. We work on that issue.

Pirith: Seems like I gotta try some Cedega-Engine-Versions... It wont run with my pure wine, which I like most because its completely free... ;)

Edit, @Matute: (K)Ubuntu is a very nice distro for beginners. If I were you, I would keep my fingers off Suse, its Yast is such a fat and .. hm, whats the english word.. its some fat, slow app, the package management of *buntu is far better imho. But this is a point one could discuss endless, you gotta find your own home. :)

To be honest it require many things to run it stable and even then i have the most basic graphic (the most advanced option avaible is si trees).
I must put hands in engine to find out in wine and linux how to make my card recognised or at least faked.
Bu ti'm afraid i wont go really far according to the tons of error message not recognising many directx9 advanced feature.

And guess an uptodate winex version (crossover just normalise the whole config) would do same job with a bit more tune.

I don't expect to run for long rvr with this config, more for ingame chat/craft, since i can have a working mouse and correctly displayed icons.

etc.

OT: Fragt sich nur, warum mein char immer noch nicht wieder in der sig drin ist...

So it goes on my nerves.

Assuming C:/DR/DAoC/ as daoc folder
Where is the:
A/ dolloader.exe
B/ game.dll
C/ Eventual login.bat files (wich use @doalload game.dll etc etc)
For cedega
1/ what path to exe you put ?
2/ What working dir ?
3 What command line you add ?

The "file-setup" (loader position, game.dll, ...) you mentioned is exactly the same as on windows. For wine, I'm using a simple startup-script for the dolloader.exe which replaces the bat files:
Code: Select all
#!/bin/bash
wine ./dolloader.exe game.dll 89.238.64.166 10300 20 USER PASS

(USER and PASS could be "hardcoded" or taken from the command line via $1 and $2)
For wine, thats all. In Cedega I've set the dolloader.exe as the game executable and the arguments are the same, of course without "wine ./dolloader.exe" before them. (means: game.dll 89.238.64.166 10300 20 USER PASS)
Working dir is the daoc main directory, f.e. ~/games/daoc.[/code]

Im running on Ubuntu and using Cedega 6.0.2

this is my config:

path to program: /media/MIS DOCS/Mythic/Catacombs/loader/dolloader.exe

working directory: /media/MIS DOCS/Mythic/Catacombs

command line options: game.dll 89.238.64.166 10300 20 user pass

Advanced setting override: Dark Age of Camelot

when i try to run game, an error occurs:

Failed to create game process!
CommandLine=J"[]\game.dll 89.238.64.166 10300 20 user pass
Directory=J"[]

(the "[]" is a box, dont know how to type it)

what am i doing wrong ?
(already tried changing override to none and graphics settings (pixel shader, etc)
