How can i do that? each time i do here as follows "http://www.dolserver.net/?cat=play&nav=connect"

I do these steps

"1A. Changing the Game Client (optional)

If you want to change your version (new users need not), Using the DAOC Portal launcher, you can patch to and from any version, by:

1. Pressing File.
2. Pressing Settings .
3. Selecting EU Version.
4. Selecting the expansion you desire.
5. Pressing Close.
6. Pressing File.
7. Pressing Run the Patcher .
"

Once i do that, and run the game, it somehow still loads the screen of Darkness Rising (i lag so bad during DR because of the gfx usage, even on LOWEST SETTINGS!! never lagged that much on official daoc)

So i want to downgrade to catacombs, so i can play without lag... i know catacombs doesnt have the gfx upgrades done to it... too bad there is no way around this

So how do i do it??

P.S. Can you please activate my "evlesoa" account, i did not get confirmation email

THANKS!!

You should be able to download the catacombs client for free from the Mythic website.

There is another alternative to using DAoC Portal: Check your DAoC directory for a file called update.dat and open it in an editor (such as Notepad). When it's showing Darkness Rising in your loading screen it should probably have the following content:
Mythic Patch
patch.camelot-europe.com:1280/updates/english/darkness/mpatch.dat
patch.camelot-europe.com:1280/updates/english/darkness/mpatch.dat

To download Catacombs instead change it as follows:
Mythic Patch
patch.camelot-europe.com:1280/updates/english/catacombs/mpatch.dat
patch.camelot-europe.com:1280/updates/english/catacombs/mpatch.dat

Then save and run camelot.exe.

Also, I just checked for a forum account named "evlesoa". It doesn't exist. So, I think Danger666 is right and you are talking about your game account. You won't get any confirmation for it. Just enter it into your launcher and you're ready to go. However, as far as I can see you've already found that out by yourself.
Happy hunting!

T-Man I have the same issue as the original poster. The darkness rising client is automatically downloaded regardless of what you do to the update.dat. This is for EU 1.88 btw.

What happens is this:

After launching client (or using uthgard launcher) and connecting to the patch server, the user gets a prompt to restart their client update. Once this is done update.dat is reset to download the darknessrising update. This happens every time, without fail. I have even tried editing the update.dat after each reset but it will always require you to relaunch the client and thus automatically update the file again and continue on with downloading darkness rising. So I to am stuck with darkness rising...

If there is a work around or suggestion, please feel free to make it.

I just did a fresh test installation myself. (Didn't want to hassle with my original installation.) So, I started with the ToA Installer from the official GOA site (under Downloads --> Complete Games). After restarting the installer (to bring it from 1.52 to 1.62) I downloaded 1.5 GB for Trials of Atlantis (ToA). No problems when connecting to the server with it.

Next, I edited update.dat to get another 1.7 GB for Darkness Rising (DR). Once again, it connected just fine.

Afterwards, I edited update.dat once more - this time to downgrade back to Trials of Atlantis. After (re)starting the updater and completing the download of 246 MB (+13 MB New Frontiers) I was back to ToA without any problems. (My update.dat did not change back to DR...)

Conclusion: As far as I can tell, everything works as intended. I don't know what's going on on your side. The only explanation I might offer is that there is a problem with DAoC Portal and/or Uthgard Launcher because I'm not using any of them...still sticking to the old-school DOLLoader and batch file.
Happy hunting!
