my DAoC client is freakin' out!!! Ether I start connect.bat or Uthgard Launcher, both are not working correctly:

After I choosed my Char and clicked on "Play", first game is loading quite well, until the end of loading. Now my game AND my PC are just totally crazy. Loading stops and my game sound just replays itself(with Speed 6 minimum^^) and its totally crashing. If I close the game with task-manager, my PC is stucking every 5 seconds and so i can't do any serious actions!

Of course, reinstalled the game but nothing changed...
Maybe some of you know this problem or otherwise can help me???

There are several things that can cause this to happen. I would check several things :

1. Update, or reinstall video card drivers. Just cause they worked before doesn't mean they couldn't have gotten corrupted.

2. Update, or reinstall DirectX.

3. How much RAM do you have. From expeerience DAoC requires 512mb. In reality it peaks out at 580mb on top of what ever your system is using. If you dont have enough ram to load this it will use your page file.

4. Check your page file size. If you dont know what your doing with these adjustments I would consult someone who does so you dont mess your system up. On an older pc I had I had to open my page file up to 1 gig due to a lack of ram.


Any of the above could cause locking issues with the game client due to its very high memory use requirements. On a note about ram use, if you are using a 64 bit operating system and processor your memor use will be in the 1.6 gig range. Just a note.

Try some of those first, hope that clears it up for you.

Now updated DirectX and Video Drivers, no change yet.
Tomorrow, I will do points 3 and 4 with my IT-Man

Post your system specs if you can. It could be very helpful. I suppose you have Windows.

Try:

1. Start->Run->at open dialog box write: dxdiag (It opens DirectX Diagnostic Tool)

There check everything to be ok, especially display tab, at directX Features. If acceleration is disabled, your video card or your video driver need upgrade (It maybe is disabled at Display properties [see step 2])

2. right click at desktop->properties->Settings->Advanced->Troubleshoot

There check Hardware Acceleration. If it is at None or other stage than Full, then adjust it to Full. If it is Full then you may try drop it at 1-2-3 stages to see if it helps you.

3. Check your hard disk status. Dying, Problematics or With Errors Disks may occur strange program behaviour like hang ups, lower performance, sound loops, and other undesired activities.

try toa first..

DR wont run smooth probably caus of too less RAM and CPU is also a bit weak.
