Hey, im new player completely to whole game, and well.. Reason i want to try it out is because this game reminds me lot of shadowbane.. Which i like alot but it has more than few issues that are too huge to stand for.. So anyway, im not sure anymore how the connecting issue goes. What i have done is downloading free trial 14 day from Daoc site, shrouded isles it was and US client. And ive patched it to 1.83 and using that DOL or something 1.77 launcher.. I put everything right, my username and pass in batch file and also the game.dat file direction, EVERYTHING. But i get this issue.. First it says " Trying to connect to the service " and then 3 times Retry, Retry, Retry and then Could not connect to service..

And id really love to try this game out, cause i think that REALLY old rpgs are always ones that should be at frontline.

Oh forgot to mention, does this game need rather more old system than current? Ive seen newer games than this that dont work on 8XX0 Nvidia series, and does this game also support dualcore or i need to affiniate it to 1 core only? rest should be compable with it. ( And im not expecting best graphics, these i saw in pics were just ones i like most..not kiddy, too serious or more like eyecandy, just the bitter world with the bitter sky and grass XD

Well, I guess there might be something wrong with your connect.bat. Can you post the text you have in there (minus your desired account name and password)?

Regarding your question on dual-coring: I think some people experienced problems with it, others were doing well. Seems you have to try yourself...

I tried shadowbane and personally I prefer daoc a lot
Daoc sadly asks also more from your pc, but I think 1 core of 3 ghz for trials of atlantis client is enough (you need next expansions only for graphic improovements in this server)
