is there any real benefit to choosing siege crafting as a main profession? what secondary skills do you get and what benefits can you obtain at higher levels, on uthgard anyway?

Siegecrafting isn't a main trade per se, it's more a secondary skill itself. You'll get it in combination with any real main skill (Armorcraft, Weaponcraft, Tailoring, Fletching, Alchemy, Spellcrafting).

The secondary skills are identical to the other trades: Woodworking, Metalworking, Leatherworking, Clothworking.

The benefits should be rather obvious: siege gear.
Happy hunting!

Is it worth trying to improve the siege crafting stats? Building siege machines quicker or something? :)

to be honest... if you want to learn how to repair walls and wreck keeps, then yes. Level it.

All depends on the type of RvR player you want to be.

For me, im a "Lone wolf" i just go around and find random people to harass.

Like i said, if you want to repair and help team mates rather than fight all the time then do that. Its a good skill over all, but im not into siege crafting except door repairs.

afaik for repairing doors and keeps the only needed skill is woodworking.
with some points in siegecrafting the time you need to build siegecrafting gear is getting reduced. but there is no need to train it in advance cause its not the fight-deciding thing if you need 2 sec more or less for building a trebuchet...

you build siegeweapons faster once they become gray(and no more fail tries then). you can lvl siegecraft with building siege-ammo quick+cheap.

the cap is around 90 atm

does siege gear have any effect on individual players and not just keep wallks, I.E. any AOE effects, like if i hit a wall with greek fire, will it hurt someone standing close? something like that?

Greek fire is cat ammo....imo if your hitting a wall with a cat and not a treb thats the first issue.

Ive never tried it to be honest but I would assume it follows a similar code to AOE spells. You cant aoe off a wall to mez people, my guess is cat ammo off a wall would fail as well.
