i hope i'm wrong on this one

yesterday i tryed to get some more points on my crafting and started making bows, the fist 10 bows i made, i got 7 99% bows and gained 4 points, sold the bows to NPC and bought material for another 10

i find it weird but quality started to drop and i got no points for fletching on these 10, so i started again and got the same results, only 94 to 97% quality and once again no points, making 20 bows (still yellow) and getting nothing after the first ten went so well?

so i stoppend on bows and bought material for duskwood magus staffs, hoping to make a masterpiece... same thing here, first 5 staffs where 99% an one 98%, sold them and made 5 others, quality dropped and 96% was the best i could make, next 5 i made where all under 97% too...

spend 700 Gold to get 4 points
i find it weird to see the quality of the items drop so fast after making 5 or 6 pieces...

is there anything changed with the recent updates?

sounds like a bug to me, quality should be random and range from 94 to 100.

What skill level are you talking about? In the beginning improvements are easy to get, i.e. a one point for every item you successfully craft. On the other end of the skill range you can sometimes spend 1-2 hours of crafting until you finally get another raise.

What color are the things you are crafting? From my experience orange yields the most potential for a skill gain (although it has a risk of losing material). Yellow can be crafted without risk, however, skill gains seem to come less frequent.

I don't think the crafting formulas have been updated in the recent past. On the other hand I also don't think there is a bug. For me it rather sounds like you were exceptionally lucky with your first 10 tries, and then the normal rate kicked in which for you now seems unnatural. With 7 99% out of 10 tries you might want to start playing lottery.
Happy hunting!

the stuff i tryed was yellow, 1030 for the bows and i had 1031 skill, i got to 1036 and there it stopped, since i boost my secondary skills by taloring studded gauntlets and weapons with wooden handles, all my skills stopped at 1036 with the bows still yellow for me, so it feels strange to craft more then 20 bows without getting a single point out of it, also the quality of the bows got worse the more i crafted.

same with the staffs (1000) i need another 4 points to get them grey, i started crafting them and got 99% for the first four, and one 98%, then quality got down to an average of 95% and stayed that low untill my golds where gone

no points out of those either, so +/- 700 gold lost without gaining anything..

i don't know if buffs, keep bonusses or other things have anything to do with crafting, maybe chances are better if keep bonus is high? i never found any info on that..

just found it strange that quality and points seem to go down when crafting the same items over and over again...

oh well, it will take me a few days to find the money to try again :?

Crafting is expensive. It is no secret that you usually have to spend up to 10p (!) to become a legendary crafter. Especially if you are spellcrafter or alchemist.

So don't worry and be happy about getting those four points for just 700g... others would be happy about. ;)

to level, the cheapest is to craft orange low, the quickest to craft yellow.

the chance to get 94 95 96 97 98 or 99 is quite the same with high level, but get MP is around 1 or 2%

fletching is not the cheapest, but if you reach high level alchi you ll cry. it s around 1platine/5 levels

this all sounds familiar to me, i don't know what amount of money i did spend to get over 1000 but is is a lot, in the rang of 15 plat i guess, maybe more.

i learned the hard way how to craft and how to earn the money for it but now i think i know what i'm doeing

a few eeks ago, when those duskwood magus staffs got finally orange i started crafting them, i made at least 50 of them so far, i got a lot of 99% and even 1 MP before they even got blue... now they are 2 points away from grey and i need 1.5 plat to buy enough materials to make a serie of them, still trying to get another MP....

i've done it more then once, buying stuff for 10 staffs, starting to craft, first 5 or 6 are all 98 or even 99 and then quality goes down and when i sell them back and start over again i can't even make 98 anymore, they all stay at 94 or 95....

i'll try again today and if quality drops, i will log out and relog to see if this makes things better....

same story with bows, tryed enough to see some sort of a pattern in it, first quality is great and then things go bad...

just wondered if others had the same feeling...

oh, it started since i found legendary is in my list, still red for me but they used to be in the list but not able to click them, now i can put them in the qbar and read the list of needed materials....
