Problem with siege engines

What exacly is the problem with siege weapons? Not only the apparatus/deploy ones but the sieges as a whole. I have been making apparatusses lataly and they do not sell at auctioneer even for 1 gold and the feedback I get from other players is that it is because sieges are bugged. I went testing what I could and noticed that they are WAY different then what I remember from 2008 when I stopped playing Uthgard. I am aware that there were no trebuchets on OF.

What it is now:
-catapults no not fire on ground target, do not make area damage and need LOS on its NPC/player
target
-ballistas use catapult ammunition (???), do area damage and need LOS
-I have not managed to test rams, but people say they are bugged. (someone please say what exacly is wrong with rams)
-Sieges do not move

What it was on 2008 (which seemed more reasonable and and logical, and thus I suppose, shold be the correct unbugged working):
-cattapults fired on ground target and NPC/player, did not need LOS for the ground target but needed LOS on NPC/player. Did area damage around place where it hitted.
-ballistas did not use special ammunition, could only fire on targeted NPC/player, did not make area damage and needed LOS.
-rams were fine (all of them, regular or apparatus)
-sieges moved (you know... the little wheels...)

About having LOS on the sieges... It is difficult to know now if they need LOS. Since LOS in these OF keeps is so broken, one can not know if things are firing because they have LOS or if they do not need LOS at all.

What bugged/strange have you all seen in sieges lately?
