Question about tailoring for salvaging

Hi,
I am currently raising tailoring and sub crafts primarily to salvage items. My question is, if I get to level 1000 crafting for tailoring and all subcrafts ( wood/metal/cloth etc.. ) will I get the max return from salvaging items or do I need to go 1100 tailoring for the higher subcrafts to ensure max return? Thanks |

Actually I thought 1000 in skill is enough for all salvage stuff (at least valid for lb staffs), but no, its seems I do not get full materials from some DF salvage, although they only give asterite/diamond.
I heard, in order to get back all material, your skill has to be high enough in order to be able to craft such an item. As a tailor its easy to skill from 1000 - 1100 - just make friend with an armor crafter and sell the linings he needs for chainmail/plate. What is it people usually salvage from diamond seals merchants, getting tailoring from 1000 to 1100 will only raise my subcraft cloth and leather to 1100, not metal or wood. I thought most people salvage the slash weapons from df merchants for most profit so the benefit of raising subcrafts with tailoring from 1 to 1.1k is useless?

1001+ skill & in all subskills is enough.
you can simply check yourself: no variance at salavage output for same items = 100% returm. if you skill is <1000 and you salvage araknit / arcanium metal, you have differences in output, from 3-9 for same things as example. |

thanks, I guess my last question.. what is most profitable gear from DF merchants, from each sets (emerald, saph, and diamond) gear to salvage? I'm assuming weapons or plate? |
