Enchanting player made items

At least from the old school days, as an SCer I could enchant the player's armor/weapon using the various enchanting dusts. I get an error when I try to do it here. Is this a bug or an unincorporated feature? Thanks!

I did search before I posted and only got results from several years ago. I didn't consider this to be a bug yet which is why I thought I'd ask first if it should work. Sorry.
