Hi all,
I am wondering where to be as a bomb when inc doing 8vs8 (or similar)? Should a bomb... a) stick with the druid to protect him or b) stick with another caster in order to be more effective or c) stick with the tank or d) with the bard to protect him or e) just be somewhere I am very eager to hear your experience. Thank you in advance. |

I am not sure if something else applies to Hibs, but Ive been running Ice wiz on Alb and Supp SM on Mid so far. without having any veteran experience from Live so my input might not be worth anything
- First of all on INC normal casterrules apply, spread out and dont be the first to get trained down. Depending on what tools you have to assist cc/demezz/rupt/setup the fight do that. - When the fighting has now started its a judgementcall on you really, is there a meleetrain on your backline you could pbaoe, or do the enemies run heavy backline where you just singletarget assist them down and focus on rupts But overall bombing has and prolly always will be, very situational. 9/10 times I wish i had better singletarget, and then theres moments like yesterday morning: https://clips.twitch.tv/AlertAmazonianWalletMau5 (cant really see it from this angle, but while our melee dps were chasing keytargets, i was protecting our healer who had a 3man tantrain on him, who i dealt with along with a slamtank. ![]() <<Bombling>> - Supp SM Lvl 50 - RR 7L0

I don't think the mentality of "where can I be to most effectively use my PBAE in open world RvR" is going to start you on the right path. The mentality should be, IMO, "where can I be to most effectively setup a kill using my resist debuffs and then single target nuke", with the PBAE option being only secondary. PBAE requires your opponent to stand still, which is asking a lot when your most common bomb targets (tanks) are only getting stunned for 2s by you (thanks to Determination).
To Bombling's point, you do have the odd scenario where you have a slambot with you so you can get targets to stand still for a long while. But in this scenario I'd argue the tank should be sitting near you, not you with the tank, since you probably don't want to be in the front line. Alainna

It differs fairly if you are an eld or enchanter, but both should definitely not be rushing into a fight to immediately start spamming pbaoe.
You should be in the back, with a slammer that is following where the bulk of enemy tanks are. If the tanks split, your tank should be following the higher threats, zerkers savages or warriors and ignore the skald who splits. The skald is likely the guy you're going to have to deal with, which is susceptible to your baseline stun or nearsight if you're an eld. Either way though at the start of a fight you should be focused with nearsighting, diseasing, or assist nuking. You use bomb if you see your tank land a slam on a target that isn't purging, and that's about the only exception. I have a vid of playing with a bomb eldritch from i50 and while we were using toa tools, there isn't too much difference in playstyle that should be expected. I float on the hero from the deepest and highest threat issues to the eldritch giving him the space that he needs to be doing things like diseasing nearsighting or snaring. If he catches me slamming something then he'll utilize his pbaoe, otherwise hes not trying to force the issue: reference (i50 emulator shard from about 10 years ago): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBEIB_jGId4 |
