Live is prolly more suitable for your needs then?


It is you who has no clue why so many people want a Real classic server (Origins support for instance), so don't start twisting things around saying it's THEM who don't get the point when in fact it's you, Thank You.

Same goes for NF RAs, OF RAs are just easier to get in shape decently AND fit better in the classic setting.

Neither will be flawless, Old RAs are just easier to work with (worth with = customise to an acceptable balance) from a pre-ToA PoV.


When it comes to picking WITHOUT ANY customisation.. I still rather have RAs that need some thinking before using, ie the old ones, not to mention the incorrect setting Uthgard has for NF RAs.

That is your opinion, and you're entitled to it, but it's by no means 100% correct and/or logical.

I would rather live with every realms stealther having Viper 3 (fixable extremely easy via AoM btw, and the staff have acknowledged this, unlike other custom fixes), and every realms archer/caster having PD then having ALL hybrids not have Det, having archers without MoS, having Purge on a 30min timer on a server with no Cure NS, not having a way to reliably test and report bugs because there are no old RA's anywhere live, etc etc.

Not to mention the fact that if Uth goes to OF RAs we will also have a downgrade to 1.65, which you yourself have admitted is not good, so I won't go into detail about that here.


This debate always goes in circles, I'd rather not start it again at least untill the staff announce a new poll or something.

Not exactly, handing det to hybrids would solve the biggest issue Old RAs create, besides that, there's few major unbalances compared to New RAs. New RAs are way worse than just Viper 3, which makes my opinion at least logical, unlike you claim it to be.

You're forgetting Charge, SoS and Vanish, not to mention the RR5 ability imbalances and lack of casting speed improvement.

Also, the old GMs from the Yggdrasil handed the Old RAs to the Uthgard staff, it's based on an open source created by a retired Mythic dev himself, so data isnt a problem. Besides, there's no way to test custom features on ANY RA system, the only place to test it's balance is here, which stays the same for Old RAs.

Also, Nearsight is unbalanced, with or without a 30 min timer on Purge, deciding which RAs fit the server setting best should have no impact on this.

Indeed, I don't think that a Balanced Classic DAoC server needs to dismiss all the classic balancing after 1.65, for instance shears and cure disease for wardens is just too good of an addition to the gameplay AND in line with the Classic aspect that it would be a waste to not have those features in.


Anyway, I'll stop here, this was about archery somehow..

Well Zarkor you claim so many things - just without any proof.

IF it is that easy, why dont you push your goal a bit and do some easy work and get us the nescarry details on old RAs (yggdrasil, web sources etc) check with patchnotes 1.65 and go over all the tiny details like:

- Was Ichor effected by det at this time ?
- Did Ichor purged root immunity ?
- etc

To find values for Ichor dmg+/time is the easy part but to find all the details related with it. That is the part that invovles work and research, without having a direct hope to get answers ad hoc.

As for all the other things. Since this is about Archers and detect hidden?
What is your CUSTOM oppinion on it ?

I never said other opinions are retarded, in fact I just defended myself from what Nymeros said, that my opinion was incorrect or unlogical. I just revealed the logic I'm using. Maybe you should learn to read a bit more carefully before you start making false claims.

Why should I proof things the staff knows better than me? I know for sure that the guys from The Talandor gave them the information, why should I be having to do more research into that then? The only wierd part here is that the staff still pretends to have loads of work with the Old RAs, which I find rather interesting since they already have all of them. Maybe they are indeed balancing it? Maybe they just don't want us to know so they can still use that as an argument against Old RAs? Maybe they want to keep it quiet so they can use it as a good argument for implementing it later than Old Frontiers? Who knows.
Hell I might even be wrong about them having it, but I highly doubt that.

Well, about See Hidden + MoS vs True Sight, I guess archers at least will have to team up to be able to prevent getting killed by assassins or having to use True Sight. I think it's best to just try it out, I mean archers these days aren't really known to be the best soloers around, most of them are either grouped or adding anyway, so I don't think the difference will be that big, archers will just have to work together a bit more now.
If it ends up being ridiculous, then a change might be in place, though I doubt that. Imo try and see from there.

Oh and you should really stop spewing so much bullshit about me, good thing it got deleted this time. :roll:

Staff having OLD RAs or not is just speculation - Nothing else. Based on ... prejudice: Awesome.

To summarize your attitude to "balance archers" -> get a group / more people. That is infact a solution to every balancing issue xD

- Hybrid? Get more and you are fine
- Nearsighted? Just go out with more ...
- Viper? Get more people
- Purge? GET MORE.

Quality RvR for everyone, huh.

No. There's a difference between a balance between 1v1 and 8v8. The classic DAoC game manual even says: RvR is never intended as solo play.

In other words: 1v1 balance is not the main goal of RvR, grp v grp balance is. There is no such thing as: "this class should be able to solo" however a lot of people these days do think that way and therefore claim 'unbalances'. If you can't face the fact that EVEN as a stealther, grouping is actually how it's intended, then you should either stop complaining or just stop playing.

You can not compare grp vs grp balance with solo vs solo balance, your comparison to other (grp) imbalances in other words is incorrect. Viper in this case is not a grp imbalance but a simple matter of overpoweredness due to lack of ToA+ abilities and stats. It's got nothing to do with getting more people just like all other comparisons you made.

Also, the staff having Old RAs or not is a fact, they're discussing it, it's not a prejudice, it's a known reality. The staff is deciding on that. Stop spreading false info, it's annoying.

Your ignorance is annoyingly shameful actually, I've said it before and I'll say it again. All you REALLY are trying to do is disagree with every single thing I'm saying as much as you possibly can, the funny part is however, that I have logic and reason on my side, where you have imaginary truths and incorrect arguments to try and keep up with reality.
