Why spoil raids if all you got to do is stay away from them if they don't keep or restore balance?
But since smashing doors is boring as fu*ck this shouldn't be a biggie anyway.

Holsten is right, I won't support raids that shift balance towards any party. All you get is less overall traffic from the realm that is at the low end and a lot of winning team joiners that switch realms for the time being.

Add an 8 hour character swap timer. That will squash that winning team swapping ****** in a hurry.

Though they hit hard with their crush attack.

I used to farm then on the wall, quite a bit inside the hulk spot, with cleric/merc. Was pretty effective, until I ran out of arrows to pull, or some hib/mid group wanted to farm there and I could not log off fast enough.

uthgard was too focused on 8 v 8

casuals or non essential classes were left sitting at drum ligen or SF

daoc is about open realm and mass pvp

working doors and keep levels are the most amazing thing ever, lets be happy and thankful guys!

timer is necessary, but I would think more in the lines of 24 hours or so, people should be able to explore and play all realms but that should in no way have an impact on RvR/realm population in general

and to all those saying "circumventing realm swap timers is easy, switch router on and off (does not work anyway) , vpn, neighbours wifi ... blabla":
no its not easy, possible but way too much effort for any 'normal' player, those 1% of loosers who absolutely need to cheat will find a way .. but they're a sad bunch anyway...

cheers

I usually enjoy playing more than one realm from time to time. I would hate if I suddenly feel like playing another realm/class it would take up to 24hours to switch :wall: :( ... Isn't 1-2 hours long enough? I kinda have a hard time to see a scenario where it would "sabotage" or even ruin other players gameplay/playstyle.

We all have to make sacrifices for the overall health of the game. 1-2 hours may not be long enough for people to switch over and take over keeps/relics, but then again it might be. I can see a case for anywhere from 1-24 hours, but whatever they decide on, it's just what you will have to deal with. Back in the day there was no cross-realming with a single account, but since we only have one server to play on this is the best compromise.

This shouldn't stop you from cross-realming, but you probably have to commit to a realm on an individual night. I don't think that is too much to ask.

Sort of unrelated to this post but is there going to be Autotraining? and if so, what can be autotrained for an NS?

Autotraining will be in just like Uthgard 1.0.

Nightshades autotrain stealth.

I have always treated the realm I was logged on as my "main" realm defense or attack.. I think im just as fixiated on a healthy gameplay as everyone else. Never been a big fan of fixed fights through teamspeak etc either but thats just my point of view.

If you played Genesis before then make sure you don't train any stealth until you reached 48 or you won't get the autotrain points.

Yep, but "free" is not classic either - a form of control over realm hoppers/xrealmers is needed to avoid nasty circumstances, in the past it was the monthly fee, here it will be the timer. Deal with it

Does anyone have an idea what the timer will be? I'm just curious. Sometimes I like to play one realm in the morning, take a break then play a different in the afternoon. Obviously the viability of that will depend on how long the swap timer is. Perhaps a GM can tell us?
