You maybe dont understand that the server is rent. We do not place our own hardware in some colocation centers. Hardware is cheap, true, but wa have no influence on that. The server we have is more likely to be a 19" rack server instead a tower like you have in mind I guess. The bigger the server the bigger the monthly costs. We have to balance what we need and what it costs on a *monthly* basis. We just dont need that much of power, so why pay more every month? It's done when it's done. Thanks for your patience.

i got it now, but imo would be cheaper to get your own 19" rack with a linux router than pay others every month for it. i guess until now since the uthgard beginning thousands of euros were paid for that rent

Well i think you don't know how expensive it is to have your own server. Not the server is he expensive part, but the traffic is.

We already had that part with "Home-hosters" behind us. Believe me - It was a bad time.
Servers freezing all day, hosters just "going away" without a word, ... Be nice. :)

this is grand news, and im happy to be part of uthgard for such a fantastic upgrade. this sounds like a new era in uthgard stability and playability!
btw i dont think the 64 bit version of windows xp has those connection limitations, it is considerably expanded vs the regular release version of windows xp professional x86. xp pro x64 is more like a permanent beta version of windows, with many extra features and hardware support but currently unsupported by microsoft in any official manner. ive had much fun playing with that OS but i stopped using it due to poor driver support for my video cards. this shouldnt be an issue with the server tho, i think its a great OS choice!  |

Yes it is wonderful news to here and I consider Uthgard worth the investment because it has been around for sometime.

Im ultrasupermegahiper noob hardware, but if with new server we will not have lags and LDs, ill be hupy
GMs know what they need for new server. TNX a lot for all donators. Insome days we will can restart enjoy our favorite game. |

you guys should find where EA/GOA leases and put uthgard in the same datacenter as the live servers, wouldnt that be ironic
(knowing EA it would be the cheapest datacenter on the planet too !!) |
