Uth Staff - thank you, I am very excited about the future!

The dichotomy in opinions on this is very telling. Those that have been here for more than a few years are against it, the newcomers are all for it. I think we can steal a good chunk of the player pie (origins) if you launch with SI and old RA.

Really, I'm over the moon. Let's do this!

Im gonna quote myself now.

Uthgard staff needs to understand that the playerbase is annoyed by the constant nerfs. Removing barrels, removing legendary ingredients, removing recharges, nerfing charged items (and having to farm them again), nerfing horses, removing tajendi, removing flying mounts to the far regions of the realm, removing xpoff (that didnt do anything because its full of graveyards everywhere), removing crafting/cleansing stones, removing trifekta npc, nerfing ra's etc. Constant nerfs makes you feel that you have no progress and you just waste your time. People have worked for their items / their mounts / their templates. You dont even wanna give a free respec when you do important changes - not that i need any cause i can afford, but the lowbies might need (see serenity).

I might add removing BGs (you can go from lvl 1 to 49 in bgs on Origins), nerfing/removing hasteners, even a simple thing like a personal binding stone is nice to have, we dont have to suicide every time we need to go back to the city do we? We dont have to wait 5 minutes between pulls when we cant find a healer to group with. You make something valuable by selling it expensive, noone can get uthalis to buy anything.

People want their chars working well, ive seen like at least 300 necromancers running around in Origins, ofc people want BD pets and they want old ras and SI.

O well that being said, i doubt old players that invested a milion years (myself 7+) will come back after a wipe. All that legendary crafters and days after days spend doing stuff. Heartstone is more fun &&

If my RR's and everything is wiped I will not be back. PERIOD. I don't care if its a "one time" situation or not, I spent 3-4 years of my life sitting here working on a toon and whats to stop this from happening again years down the road. I understand somethings might be nerf'd or removed, but if you wipe the server I will not be back.

And 2 will likely fill in your place. I believe this to be a good move.

Surely you had fun during the 3-4 years you played? Or is it only after 3-4 years that you finally started enjoying it. Imagine with a large, fresh player base. I'm pumped.

PS: I seriously doubt it's going to be a total wipe. I'm interested nonetheless.

PS: Ginsu, if this is not a serious question and more a troll attempt you will get a ban next time as I don't like if somebody wastes our time with such questions.

And those 2 that fill my spot will stay for a year or two then quit when the first player(s) beat them in. I've proved I will stay and work a LONG time on a server, but not if overnight all my hard work is thrown out. Makes sense, cater to a player who will be gone w/ the next big thing comes out, but the players who stuck with it and put in their time get hosed. Makes a ton of sense... :gaga: :wall:

You will steal people that are easily attracted to something and even more easily lost. You can wipe the server 4 million times, but DAOC will still be DAOC. People that want to do RvR will still exist, as well as those that will always look for excuses not to...like the low rr QQ group. Most of the origins population consists of people that are playing the game for the first time and don't even understand how buggy it is, or the ones that think they will have a chance against skilled groups just because they are close in RR's. Either way, most of them are born quitters and qq'ers. Wiping the server is maybe a realistic solution, but doing this after one week of origins being out and not even giving it a try? The type of players Uthgard will attract with this are not the players that will stay for years to come, but the ones that will quit at first sign of defeat in rvr or anything that doesn't go in their favor.

It's really a paradox. Uthgard staff was arrogant and stood strong when players with legitimate arguments that have invested years in uthgard just asked for some things, but now they bend and lose their spine to a bunch of qq'ers and the fact that new server is out? Wiping the server...their choice and cool but not giving it a chance? Coward's way out :)

Do you have some knowledge that this is a wipe?

I don't see it. I'm guessing there is a middle ground here.

A strange reaction was to be expected but this breaks the mould :D
Ever considered that this might not be permanent? I guess most people just want to try the new server and will be back after 4 weeks. Origins delivers some new content (well more old content actually) everyone wants to check out. But with the actual performance and stability most ppl will be back within a brief period of time. Plus you can change previous wrong decisions. I think it is possible. A gap between older and newer player will always be there, thats part of the game. It's actually even intended, seems like you didnt understand the concept of the game at all. The solution that always worked is called inflation. You went the other way, making everything harder. It was supposed to fail right from the start, something i've been saying for years. Yes, it makes the game more custom, but hell, who cares if theres a rp or item inflation, it's the same like in real life.

I always questioned the attitude of the server team towards the community. Always left the impression they want to punish us for some reason. This final decision is like that of an whinny little child.. "Hey you don't wanna play on our server? We delete all your ****** 'n stuff!"
Though you did an awesome job from the technical and support perspective this long time developement is totally messed up.
I doubt this is the right step to go in the long way, many will not come back because of this. Rather because of this than some item that got deleted.

But anyways, thanks for the fun in the last years :)

Okay so the new players will be gone after 1 year, as you say. Yeah better keep things exactly as they are, maybe give BD a third pet and we'll be all good. 700 people should come back for that, right?

Let's do nothing about the inequity. Great call.

Been there, done that, seen that.... Sorry, but players that want a wipe will be gone in no time. I'm simply stating that a player that has played here for close to 4 years and was dedicated will be gone IF they do a server wipe of some sort. That's all I'm saying.

I like your evidence for that too. How can you know they will leave?

"well, because I've been here for 4 years and I've seen it over and over that new people always leave".

So the reason we can't try to get things more equitable for new players, is because when new players are at a major disadvantage they tend to leave the server.

Couldn't possibly help to try and change that gap.
