Well because there are really no negative changes for a savage, only good ones. Superextremely biased opinions don't help though :)

Implementing more bugs (well they won't be bugs cause you won't be able to prove it) while things like rupt system, defense penetration and other basic game mechanics are totally bugged. Furthermore GOD FORBID they make a mistake while coding their vision of old RA's and make an ability overpowered, how will you prove it? Even if you prove it to them that it is overpowered how long will it take for them to "fix" it? But I guess we don't have to worry, it's not like they were wrong, refused to admit it and kept claiming it's livelike ever before amirite?

I'm wondering, how do you intend to implement things like ichor and ST which even in NF you don't know how it works (well you do after like 3 or 4 bugreports about it)?

Why don't you reset rp's with the new RA system in place? It would be the only fair thing to do. 1.69 OF vw is not the same character as 1.80 NF vw, 1.69 druid and cleric are not the same characters as their 1.80 counterparts etc. Druids will still have fun I guess, pressing that GROUP PURGE button every 30 minutes.
Ah well, the next big thing in the solo scene will be SHIELD TANKS. HF assassins and archers. Oh wait, there is no solo scene...

It will be even more funny reading answers like "we do not want to start customizing things" to requests for customizing RA system when the whole system is custom by default : )))))))))

EXACTLY ! ! !

Maybe the -woohoo classic- community think about this when population starts dropping ...

If you were an older player here, you would know that everything its done when its done on uthgard. I made bugreports that werent fixed even after 3 years because staff didnt know if they go a lower patch or not. The real problem comes with other questions triggered by these changes:

- Will the staff ever stop with changes, set a limit and fix bugs/implement things until that point?
- How can someone proove that an old ra is wrong, or test something?

From my point of view, you can't know what will happen on uthgard. Maybe in 1 year from now staff will think patch 1.30 is the best for their server settings, or maybe in some time they will remove your SI class, or pots, or maybe they will change OF in some time, there was like 3-4 RvR map changes until now. As far as i see these things werent mentioned in the news.

Seems like uthgard will never be that complete/bugfree server that some of us were looking for. So the answer is simple, shut up and play, and live with the changes, or feel free to do something else.

I guess you see what ive chosen. SC2 is in stores in july and D3 is out next year :) so see you there

Wow, it was a simple question for a time estimate, and I did play here a couple years back actually. Just because it takes them a while to make changes doesn't mean a time estimate can't be given.

And I plan to keep playing, I just want to know if I have time or not for certain characters to be used the way I wanted them to be.

So shut up and play SC2 and D3.

I am planning on playing healer after these changes go live primarily, and healer loses plenty. But I just prefer this setting is all.

Imo, hibs made out the best, but time will tell.

With the BG changes whats the plan for the xp bonus? Will owning a BG CK still grant an xp bonus for that level range?

woooooooooot hib 8v8 groups will gain a huge boost nice...

This is great for the server because it essentially makes it more skill based because CC matters much more. Fights wont be decided by one group having 4 people with purge 3 and the other has very few. Spreading out on inc will be essential so noob groups will get killed easily. It also won't be the current blow all RAs dump like mids spamming SOS + AOG + charge which is currently has no counter whatsoever. Casters will be more usefull.

But best of all is.....I DONT CAST AT 3 SECOND SPEED ON MY DRUID ANYMORE WOOOOT.

HOWEVER nearsight will be outrageously overpowered. People know this, they will abuse it, and eventually the GMs will HAVE to input a cure otherwise people will leave. Mythic had to input a counter to nearsight (actually two) because it became incredibly overpowered once people actually knew what it did. The GMs must recognize this sooner than later.

A cure to NS? this discussion has already been held several times, a cure won't make it through the GM's selection BUT a timer reduction might, 1min instead of 2min is already a major reduction in OP'ness. And has a higher chance in succes of getting implemented.

I also think old RAs is an interessting thing to happen... for all NS/etc. QQers: if those changes would cause that vast imbalances don't you think the staff would adjust those new rules or even "invent" new RAs for chars that are rendered "useless" otherwise?
The staff has shown it does react much faster and accurate than mythic/goa
As for the new BGs: great stuff, esp. for casual players thats great, imo the best part of warhammer was that you could do pvp from the very beginning while leveling.
BTW: any time schedule for the new BGs? they could be implemented apart of the RA issue.
PS: continue your great work on uth!

Well that point of view is simply ridiculous. Staff took months to decide on what setting they want to use finally. The 1.80 limit wasn't thought through, it was a necessary stop made to prevent bringing in some of Mythics bullshit changes.

The RA system was also chosen most likely because they didn't have the data, nor time nor testability for the Old RAs. They were probably considered though, since Uthgard's concept is that of a Classic sever.

So, after months of discussing they decided on what they REALLY want to use as primary setting: Old RAs and 1.69. Real Classic in other words. To be quite honest I find this a good setting to base your server on if a classic server is what you're after.

The ONLY and very important detail to this patch limit and RA set is that you can't look at it as a fixed, unchangable, uncustomisable setting. Why? Because DAoC evolved, just like the DAoC players that play Uthgard today have evolved. Mythic still saw loads of flaws in their work at patchsetting 1.69. Apparently, and luckily for us, our staff does aswell. They've announced that clear bugs will not be adapted with the patchsetting, which is great. We can only hope for the severe imbalances can one day also be seen as flaws or bugs in the patch or RA setting. After all, just like bugs, they manage to skew balance in an unwanted direction.

This way, by eliminating bugs and imbalances carefully, you can create a timeless Classic server. Meaning a classic server that represents a certain time in DAoC, without the obvious flaws that went with that era so that people can enjoy playing on this server 'endlessly' without having to face the same old obvious gamebreaking stuff over and over again without any hope of seeing it fixed, ever.

I sincerely hope staff will follow this approach to finetune their decision so that we can all enjoy Classic DAoC to the fullest.

PS: If you think I'm a fool for hoping and maybe even expecting all this, fine, go ahead, but I think we've seen enough negative-o behaviour about these changes for now...

so very true, since uthgard staff isn't forced to roll out any addon to keep money coming in, chances for imbalances introduced in future are very low.. I am confident they will succeed

I still don't understand why all these QQers aren't on Eden already?
This perfectly suit to their "I WIN" gameplay they wish.
All i hear here is only QQing about ME,MYSELF and MINE.Try to escape from your solo mentality,or to see only the "my grp have no RA up" vs"the other grp have all RA up".If YOU or YOUR grp win the mezz/NS strike will you QQ too?If your grp have all RA up and other don't,will you QQ too?
What do you do actually when you got NS? and no purge up?
You will do the same thing for longer time with old Ra,that's all.
About hybrid and deter...
What do an arms/hero/warrior when rooted?Nothing
What do a pally, thane,VW while rooted? They use chants or cast,so they still have utility.
About mezz? they can be REMOVED,root can't.
Ols RA will balance the actual situtation.Op classes (like rangers/zerk/etc...)will be nerfed, and nerfed classes(armsmen/warriors/etc...)will be up.Casters with their nice resist rate will be up too.

QFT. If we want to play on a 'Classic DAoC' setting 1.69 is about as classic as they can make it. Were there flaws in classic DAoC? Sure but the worst can be fixed. I enjoy Uth and do NOT enjoy today's live game or Eden. I'm here to stay and applaud Uth staff's dedication to 'Classic DAoC'. /cheer
