OOS Bug Using // Behavior

Several players showed in open discussion that they think actively using the OOS bug in combat is correct. As a consequence we are going to act more strictly in case of bug reports. The penalty will be measured as minor bug abuse (at least 2 days in jail).
Another consequence is that Presto will no longer be available on IRC (including all IRC support). The loss of this way of giving feedback can be attributed to some members of the community. We expect that the server rules will be accepted and followed; otherwise our position will have to be tightened.
Unfortunately, Presto is so p***ed off that he doesn't want to hold his event in near future. "So, thanks a lot for another blow below the belt when I had regained some trust in the community. Currently, the behavior of many people simply doesn't warrant an event." (Presto)

OOS = ?
Out Of Speed? :s
Edit : OK, I found on the deutsch news. That's the Out Of Sight bug. When does it happen? When you go back and forth through the ennemy?

Yes, sorry for not making it clear from the start. OOS = Out of sight. It is caused by running through your opponent so that he has no way of hitting you.

What you missed is the discussion in the german forum.
It was not clear to me that Uthgard is so strict in enforcing the Uthgard rule, that you are not allowed to run through other players. And so i did it too. I also bumped a very old thread and asked about a clarification and that ended in a hefty discussion, a forum ban and a locked thread.
That you dont know its forbidden shows one thing: The staff should bring this Uthgard specific rule to the attention of the players, especialy since most players come from live servers where it is neither forbidden nor considered a bug.
On the Uthgard Server it is not allowed to run through other players and you risc getting banned if you do it.
EDIT: The next problem is, that the rules say you should not use bugs, but running through people is not considered a bug on live servers. So people have a problem in realising that on Uthgard it IS considered a bug.

it is not this simple i fear,
a lot of us started playing for the first time on uthgard, we grew up here, so to speak,
presto and his staff are working their *ss of to get this game as good as possible and we just have to sit down and play. The fact that we used the forum to tell the staff what went wrong or what was bugged was just to try and help them...
to have good rvr we needed more players so everyone tried to get friends to come over and play with us.
a lot of those new players have played live before, they now the game and start to tell the staff what to change and wat to do, not allways in a polite manner, the use of bugs is something that got worse the last months, and most of this bugs were not even known by most of us, if we start a fight, we stick a guy and try to kill him, simple as it is.
if you do that to a player with lots of experience, he just turns back, runs trough you and hits you while you wander where he is and why you are not sticked to him anymore..
i never realised it was a bug they used, i just thought it was my inexperiance that made me loose the fight...
i know presto wanted to make this server special, not identical to live, just fun to play without the faults of live...
if i read the german forum, with the little knowledge of german i have, somethimes i think: oh my god, people plz grow up and stop whining....
most of them just forget, or don't appreciate all the work the staff does just to let us play here for free!!
i donated a while ago just to show i care, i hope that all those guys that are constantly complaining and whining do the same, nothing in life is free, so act like it.
and to presto and the rest of the team: thx for all the work you do and the fun we have here, don't loose your motivation over some unpolite and childish players, a lot of us have great respect.
just my 2 cents

The discussion wasn't that new Gerbald. It was discussed 1 month ago too. We didn't do anything till yesterday because we thought we would accidently jail someone, who was lagging or didn't know what he was doing..
However the OOS bug is only the minor problem. I've taken this actions mostly beacuse the Behaviour of some people.

And its sad that all other players have to accept the canceling of events but i understand this and your reasons Presto so we try to handle it.

It's mainly a motivation factor. If everything runs well and the players just obey to the rules as well as to the appropriate behaviour I'am motivated to do things.
If I get flamed for stuff, If people call me a noob because my rules are senseless or they even tell me that I dont do a thing I get frustrated and I dont have the motivation to do events.
Events are alot of work and stress actually. Making an Event means, that I cant code a thing for around 3 days because the preparations are taking alot of time.
At some point you start asking yourself if you want to make an event also for those players that are always flaming, disrupting the community and destroying the feeling and gameplay of uthgard. I also have visions for this project and I want uthgard to be a server with a good and helpful community, where rules are accepted and staffmembers and players alike a treated with the proper respect.
I can't support uthgard in some ways as long as this behaviour stays because I dont want to reward anyone for the things that happened in the past few days, to put it straight: thats the idealism that keeps me going and the vision that enables me to do all the work here. If those things keep getting beaten below the belt the situation will turn even worser. The more ****** happens the more I have to react. This happens at the cost of uthgards gameplay, players and my motivation and my nerves.
Hell, I can understand that some don't like the situation but I'll guarantee you that it is even worser for me. You can walk away and say "I dun care" well.. I cant because I'am the administrator and I have the responsibility.

Sure just what i said...you have to react and have to gurantee that server rules are accepted. In a smaller position the staff like here have to act like GOA / Mythic have to do it. They do same. If needed they warn, ban whatever to keep the community in a row. We all have to accept the rules like real life we have to accept the boss at work and if theres problem and staff says no events with posted and showed reasons the community have to accept this and we do so dont care of it you do the right.

Like Gerbald said, it's not a bug on live servers... if you want to counteract, just go backward when you attack the ennemy. He'll stick you and you won't be the victim of that "bug".
I played on live servers... and I was also using that technique to kill the ennemies. It's like bombing at doors... it's not a bug either... normally. But it seems so on Uthgard.
I don't care of what will happen now. If it's forbidden, I'll stop using that skill. I'll do what the staff will tell me what we can and what we can't do.

It won't help you anyway because we implemented something to prevent the use of oos

@presto: so im allowed to use my backstyles by run through + stick now, since you removed that OOS thing?
(strafing is kinda useless....i strafe behind the enemy, try to use backstyle -> miss due to strafing in combat)
