As you should have noticed, our server's hdd has a problem. While the server tries to access some files in bad sectors unfortunately freezes are occuring.
Due to lots of donations that many players sent us, we can now effort to move to a better server, so we can solve 2 problems at once: A new harddrive and a better server! Thanks for this!
Here is an overview of the current server that you are playing on since 2 years:
• Intel™ Celeron 2.8 GHz
• 512 MB RAM
• Windows 2000 Server
• .net 2.0
Here are the specs of the new server:
• Athlon64™ DualCore 4600+
• 1.024 MB RAM
• Windows XP Professional 64-Bit
• .net 3.0
The "ordinary" lags were caused by a permanent call of the GarbageCollector of the .net, that tries to free the RAM. Depending on the CPU this progress takes it's time. If the progress is called several times at once, there can occur lags for even some seconds. With a faster CPU these processes should not be noticeable any more.
We are going to move to the new server during the next 2 weeks. We'll copy the majority of the files previously to prevent a longer downtime. Again I want to say a big thank you to all donators!
