Im thinking about rolling a Merc as my 2nd char.

When running through the game, what i can see is , that most mercs are halfogers or highlanders. Has anyone ever rolled a Zaracene Merc?

As far as i know, dmg is based on str and dex. And due to the fact, that Zara has most dex, the dmg output should be decent.

So, anyone got experience with?

You could try an autotrain thrust saracen, instead of slash or crush. But you'd have low hps.

compare them as this

a highlander gets 70 str at creation with 45 str via level and if you added 15 point to str and with caped gear bufs you will have
70+15+45+75+155=360 str for ws

a h.ogre gets
80+15+45+75+155=370 str for ws

a saracen thruster gets
80 dex
50 str
so 80+15+22(via level)+75+155 =347 dex
50+10+45+75+155 = 335 str
and it is %50-%50

so (347+335)/2 = 341 ws stat
it will be about 1.5*stat for ws so you will have 19*1.5=28 to 43 ws lover as saracen thrust yet you wil get more parry and block chance as having higher dex (not sure if ther is a hard cap for stats like evade on dex)

It´s perfectly viable as thrust is the best damage type for albs in groups.

Go 10str/dex/qui 36thrust 50dw 42shield rest parry.

Just do waht you want to do.
There are many different and sometimes even unusual combinations.

Well, top mercs are Brits and Highs slash, but there are some thrustmercs around aswell, even a Halfogre thrust merc.
