Hey - returning to DAoC - doing some research on classes that are in demand for RvR for Albs.

Mercs, Sorcs, Theurgs and Clerics are all obvious choices, but something tells me there are too many of them.

Over the years I've played them all, so just need some info on what Alb is missing from the battle field.

I dont really like to play pally though.

How about Friars ? Under-appreciated here? Wont get any RvR grps?

Thanks for any insight ;)

in alb you need a Name and a Guild wich is a good Name,
than and only than you will be up for RvR
else you can still organize your own grp for Hw or OG but don't expect too much than.
just my experience

So, less about what I play, more about who I play with.

Well I guess I'll roll a cleric and a sorc and a merc in that case. Probably in that order.

Unless I discover over time that grps need x-class more often.

All good choices but Cleric and Sorc needed most out of those. :D
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> You have to be a c*** to be awesome at daoc
[3:10pm] <myrmidon^> that's what I learnt
[3:11pm] <Frosty_> then why does austerim suck
lordgriffon wrote:Oh by the way... ever seen a group of 8 smite clerics? Or play against a group like that? I have. Absolute devastation. The group that runs up against them can't kill them fast enough because smite clerics have sooooooo many tools at their disposal combined with decent ranged damage with 8 of them dudes doing it!

If u start, take a Merc. Easy to Level and most slots in grps. With a merc u can always get a grp.

This.

you dont even have to have any skill on merc to get a group as merc. you can fit 3-4 mercs in a group easy. that makes it pretty easy for a merc to get a slot. if an alb group wipes, they add more mercs. plus even if your group sucks, if you charge 3 mercs on a target at least one thign will die before your group wipes.

cleric isnt a bad bet etiher. as you have 2 slots open for you. and leveling up/in bgs they are a rare thing. a wide range of skill levels are accepted on cleric, but a bad cleric will struggle a bit in end game rvr.

sorc you can get a group on, but not as often for rvr as there is usually only 1 per group. you have to be good or you will never get a group in the lvl 50 game. pre rr5 you will spend a lot of time dead from charge zerkers.

anything else = waste of time. theurgs are good in set groups, but are largely usless in pugs where they dont get guard and peels. they will die in 3 seconds to a charge zerker train. buying PD 4 might help a bit. but you are still going to eat a lot of dirt compared to a tank. and groups will get frustrated with the caster dying every fight and replace you with a merc.
