Guys good evening
After playing the last 2 months with many pug grps in albion and with allot different supporters i decided to make a basic guide so albion 8 man supporters work better with their paladin. Ok first things first guys what does a paladin does in a grp. Our main job is to guard the supporter that the enemy assist train aims to kill(so guard while chanting trying to slam the enemy tanks and snare em so the supporter gets free).This is not a simple thing to accomplice since who ever from the supporters gets the enemy train needs to play good and help the paladin do his job.So guys i ll point out what the supporter needs to do so he can stay alive in every possible situation, so bear with me and read it ![]() 1) 3 melee tanks on a supporter. if paladins is already with you you NEED to STAY with him that means you stay with him and dont move except only if they get ichored or mezzed so its an aoe cc that rends you free, or paladin slamed 2 of 3 tanks so you start kiting of the 2 slamed enemy tanks paladin will follow you.If you start moving with the 2 or 3 enemy melee tanks on your back even if paladin follows in 1st cc that he ll get you probably die. 2) If you have 1 tank on you or pet interupting you and no other supporter can free you with root or mez then face the paladin and kite through him w8 for a slam. Then kite off free ![]() 3) if paladin gets rooted while guarding you and you have enemy melee tanks on you stay with him (for paladins put intercept on the guarding supporter and in the first hit he gets the dmg the intercept ability transfer the dmg to you so you are free from the root).Dont ever for any reason kite of the rooted paladin. 4) if paladin is cced mezzed on inc or rooted and you see enemy train comes for u ... face the paladin and kite all the way to him. 5)if they split assist then the paladin need to guard randomly so kiting to him and w8 for a slam is 1 solution to get free have that in mind. 6) Always keep in mind distance paladin guarding in the back line has to give end to your melee tanks in the front so kiting and spliting the grp while mercs pushing is a lost fight. So while having paladin guard you as a supporter you need to position your self in a place that the melee tanks gets his endu chant or his aog or even his other chants... 7) On Enemy inc tank grp with sos GUYS DONT START RUNNING MINDLESSLY THINKING THAT YOU LL KITE OFF THE SOS GRP. The only thing you win is half of your members cced and other half kited out of range spliting the grp and probably loosing. Cleric and paladin can save the grp if they do this.Clerics bof and take a position to heal if lucky they will also be able to heal. The supporter that gets the enemy assist train stay with the paladin to defend w8ing for the melee enemys to brake their sos effect and get cced then start running of With the paladin. ![]() 9)keep your eyes open if some shield tank is trying to slam your paladin dont run off him because if he follows you to guard he ll get slamed and you ll probably die. sry but my english is not the best,but i understand the most of your palatasks. but its hard to be a good pala,when your grp lose 2 or 3 times,then the most grp´s give up. the 2nd thing is,when you play pala then all supp´s yells ,u must come to he,but most of time its only 1 pala in grp and 2-3 supp´s,then you have a prob when all yell. ![]() when the incgrp attack with tankduo´s, 2 supp´s of your grp ,on same time,what is then the best tactik? i hope you know what i mean,and sry for my english. bb greetz Linc Myth:Paladins cannot deal damage

linc for the situation of a full tank grp that has 4 assisting melee and they split assist 2 tanks on 1 support and other 2 tanks on the second supporter you ll go to the duo of tanks that are zergers or blademasters as first pick and leave the non determination class to get cced .On inc alway check for classes its a bit hard but you can manage to distinguish the classes.What happens to the second supporter that dont get guard?He asks for cc or kite trought you and waits for a fast slam ![]() Other critiria on which support you guard is his rr (physical def if caster), his class if he is a sorc you always need to talk with him and ask him if his rr5 is up .Any way its not a static situation since there are many different compilations that i can think of. So your criteria on which duo of enemy tank you guard and which you don't goes like this. Enemy class (det tanks that dont get cced need to get a guard so you low their dmg) Enemy rr(for instance 10 or 11 rr determination tanks cant be cced so you need vs them guard + slam) Supporter class and rr(armor type if caster rr5 sorc.) So combining all this info you need to pick the right supporter to guard. Well always keep in mind the gravity on a theurgist in the albion grp. If he says he moced and he has 2 tanks on him keep him alive this can win you the fight. Vs split assist thats what a paladin can do . Rest is up to the rest of the support to help each other. I was aiming with this threat to help the supporters act correct on defending and not the paladins but iam glad this might help
some paladins. |

First of all thanks for the nice tips about paladin, it's realy useful and shows that you are an experienced tank. But there are two things I don't get about your play style. Please don't get me wrong.
![]() I see that you twist rarely and only keep endu chant on. You also don't use a fast small shield to slam. With slow swing speed sheild, higher endu cost per slam try and high miss rate you go out of endu at the begining of all your fights even with no twist. I remember you said you are disabled (not sure) is that the reason of no shield switch and less twist or you experienced that it's better? Again, I have no bad intention, please don't get me wrong. ![]() |

I think it's the brimstone shield of chaos, it has 3.2 speed and is most likely the fastest large shield. You can see many paladins use it, myself included.
When guarding the shield size is not supposed to matter, but who knows how it is on uthgard, so most paladins prefer large shields. edit: yeah you can swap shields for slam and guard, I did this for a while but with chants and switching guard that was a lot of micromanagement for me. |

imamizer brimstone shield of chaos, it has 3.2 speed and its a large 1 so the endurance cost is almost as a small shield.
For the record guys me and pbuck runed long tests about block rate on guard with a large and a small shield and the results showed us that there is a difference on block rate in more than 1 person. Well i cant say its for sure but thats what we saw in many combat logs that pbuck checked. As for the twisting iam not disabled and i have my own balance on twisting.If you twist every 7 secs you ll for sure run out endurance so dont get me wrong but leaving endurance on for 20 sec for instance will be only for geting some endu up and not cause i dont want to twist. Shield is more than fine the only problem with that shield is that i would prefer a procless shield so there would be zero chance to break cc. Ofc guys every tank has his play style in my experience twisting every 7 secs = no endu for styles if you compine sprint styles that have to perform when a fight is in progress ![]() ![]() the beginning of a fight lol. |
