Hi all,

This thread is just to give those of you out there interested in reading about people a little bit of a heads up about me, a general rant (they're always fun), and to look for some advice on classes/guilds.

My transfer from Hib to Alb will complete Sun 9th April 20:00 GMT+1. I went there with my brother and a friend about a month ago because 2 of our other friends were already established in a guild there... but I've never liked Hib, and I couldn't force myself to enjoy it whilst playing with friends either, so I'm jumping ship.

I live in England, and played from SI to Cata way-back where my brothers and I played Midgard. The last char I remember desperately wanting to try though was an Armsman. I love knights, platemail, wizards, kings, Britain, heraldry etc so I thought I'd give Albion a proper shot (don't remember ever getting past Salisbury Plains on live) instead this time.

I've already got a few character ideas in mind. I'm not a min-maxer by any means but will be looking to be viable on my main character which will be an auto-trained Armsman, and looking forward to RvRing. I'm glad to see they seem really wanted on Uthgard.

I'll probably also make a Necro (sorry, sorry, sorry) to assist with money, as I want to do crafting on my Armsman as I go, as I found on my Hib chars that I was quickly running round in grey gear due to no armour drops from mobs. I've never crafted in DAoC so if anyone has any advice/guides for a newbie to it, I'm all ears.

Beyond that, I'm interested in Scout, Infiltrator, Mercenary, Paladin, Reaver and then just for funsies, maybe a Smite Cleric and an Earth Wizard.

I never really went for the meta - I went for what was fun (used to have a Frostalf Shadowblade!), and I hope there're a few likeminded people out there in Albion, because there wasn't in Hibernia. I could spiral off into a rant about that now, but I'll save your eyes. Suffice to say one guy in a group summed it up perfectly well last night when I wanted to invite whoever was available (the 'desired' classes were all busy) to fill the spots in our group and some people were complaining about not 'needing' them... The guy said "Sure let's get a group full of optimal character and then wonder why endgame Hib is just full of metas". Amen, brother. Let people enjoy the damn game. I /b'd in Darkness Falls for a Blademaster to join our last slot and someone said "lol what's a BM gonna do?" Err, hit ******, that's what. That kind of attitude ****** me off, and I've been forewarned to expect it here also, but at least Alb is a bit more mixed with melee/casters and not dominated by one or the other.

Anyway, so I'm coming your way guys - I hope Alb is a more inclusive realm than I found Hib to be. Could anyone recommend any good and active, new-player friendly EU guilds that have a long-term RvR goal (not necessarily bloodlettingly competitive)? I loved the keep siege/defence aspect of DAoC the most above general 8v8 duels. I've seen the recruitment post for <Riot Control> and they sounds pretty cool?

Anyway, don't be shy, say hi!

Hey, I recently rerolled to alb, although I came over from mid.

It appears to me, that a lot of leveling from 5-40 is done by necromancers and cabalists. After 40 though, grouping is pretty cool tbh.

It appears the realm in particlar need Paladins and Clerics (I'm playing a paladin myself). People really do enjoy melee groups for exp, but they tend to primarely run casters in RvR. A few reasons for this, is the lackluster RA selection for Paladins + the fact that the endo range is only 1k. Armsmen and Mercenaries are great, but it's just so much easier stacking casters.
Just about done..

Inclusive realm? That sir is Midgard. Best realm by far. I deleted a 50 skald to role Alb for a challenge. sadly the challenge was not in RvR but in community. Find a good guild and alliance. I'm hearing good things about We Play for Keeps. They seem to be nicely balanced between RvR and PvE.

Welcome to Albion.

So close...

I'll be joining <Riot Control> tonight or tomorrow when I make my Armsman :)
