there are plenty, but they probably want you to show your interest in the game and your dedication to playing before they start throwing invites out. spend some time leveling and show youre capable in rvr first...

Might I also recommend a class change from Wizard to something a little more groupfriendly. If you are deadset on a DD caster you should try body sorc / air theurg.

or play your wizard and join albion honor guard

if you are new in daoc, then u might not know but wizzies are lil bit underpowered (actually a lot) compared to the other classes.

if you want to play a competitive class you might wanna switch to another class, sorc thaurg and cabby are all good if you like to play mages, they pretty much have all the stuff a wiz can have plus more useful things.

Or you can stick to wiz if you just enjoy playing it, I am not here to tell you what class you should play, just giving you some advice/info, since you are new and might not know

Thank you a lot with your advice. I'd like to play a mage class, but I don't know what can be more usefull for party, so if wizzy isn't good enough for party, maybe I can change my choice.

you'd have to roll a new toon. can't respec your class. seriously though, play whatever is most fun.

the reason uthgard has few 50s is because , old crusty veterans from this server demand that ppl play the same run of the mill classes over and over again , and ppl get discouraged , dont enjoy there class and quit around lvl 35-40 because they arent playing what they want they are playing what those old crusty ass veterans are demanding, it makes ppl either keep rolling Braemar twinks or they just leave the game to never be heard from again...

Yes we know some classes are more useful , but if you make everyone play the same class the game becomes incredibly boring you see the same classes , same ppl , over and over , and over again , its ppl like me and the guy above me who are slowly changing that mind set over the years and guilds alliances like albion honor guard are born , 4 whole guilds devoted to letting ppl play whatever the hell they want , when they want , how they want , not having some 47 year old german guy tell me im useless cuz i am playing something not on the dream team class list really makes me cringe. and was never how daoc was intended to be played

What I do when i play a new MMORPG is always look around if there is some "flawed" class in terms of performance. Usually i dislike to play easy one button win classes, but i dont wanna play the useless, underpowered class either, cos i know that when i reach max level i ll just be sucking around to ppl which is less "skilled" then i am, and that is really gona make me hate the game, and then make me leave it.

If you read my previous post I made it clear i didnt wanan tell him what to play, i just tried to give some advice, something i d pay to get on a game i dont know anything about. Usually every class is balanced in a MMORPG but since this server is running a old patch version (thats why we love it) where wizzies might have been good on live server at the time the patch was running since the ppl skill level was much more casual, and nobody was even caring about what a NS could have been. Now things are different either on live server and here, so the actual status of wizzies on UTH does not match with the current status of gameplay which makes them quite useless, and will make the guy regret his choice, cos he will either get rejected by parties / guilds, or join a guild who will accept him anyway, and then when he goes RvR will see and eldrich nsing him, debuff him, stun him, and finally nuke him down. Something that he might be disappointed about. All this without considering that even if we wanna accept that wizzies could be actually good with no utility, their Bolt dmg is not as high as it should be. Dont you think he is gona feel bad about that too when he finds out?

I personally am just giving advices, and even if some "veteran" might be more strict cos he is a 47 yo close minded guy, that will not certanly lead anyone to leave the game, if they like wizzies, they are gona ignore any advice and stick with them anyway. What makes this server crowded by always the same ppl is the fact that this game is more then 10 years old now, and all the ppl who actually likes it, are ppl who played it when it came out, and are so used to it, that they just prefer it over any other new MMO out there. A guy who want to experience his first MMo, its probably not gona pick daoc, or rather ultima online. Do not expect new ppl will join this game, they wont

like i said, play what you want, or listen to old vets of uthgard, not daoc.. The real daoc was less critical of what class you were because most gimped classes here worked fine on live.. but that doesnt mean that they are gimped or broken beyond playability and that they are not competitive, because that is just wrong.

I will agree with you that mostly just old daoc players from live play here, but you do get the occasional new player every day actualy who has no clue how to even attack or do anything. Ppl like this can either end up getting hooked on uthgard or they simply quit after lvl 20 because they are part of the wow generation and this game is simply before there time and too difficult for there compressed brains to comprehend.


anyways long story short , make one of the recommended classes if that is what you want to play , if you dont see anything you like in those classes just make whatever you want because in the long run the only way your getting a class to 50 is if you like it and enjoy it you can have someone tell you all day long that your wizard is useless because your missing a few utilities of the other realms casters but you make up for it in DPS and variety of dmg spells IMO.

i have been made quick work of by a wizard on melees, and stealthers , they have there purpose maybe just not 1v1 with an eld or runey

prehaps you have noticed by now but nobody groups a wizard, they are 1 hit wonders andoffer nothing to rvr:)

alot of player's want cookie cutter classe's and wizard isnt one , but i play my earth wizard some anyway's an while i die alot i sometime's get a kill in rvr to even running solo in epic armor with no buffs and inspite of my low damage's ,also my air thurgest rock's and he run's the same way if he was templated he would actually have a chance solo against some stealther's . my point is play what you like an do best you can with it
