I just started, and I'm trying to pick which class to play. I've very open, and it's difficult to choose.

I'd hate to play a saturated class. Which classes do you see are played the most? Which are played the least?

What's needed?

Least played for a reason though, don't forget that. All classes can be fun in their own way, but the most played ones are the classes that are actually good at what they do in the setting that people enjoy most - rvr.

Necromancers and cabalists are extremely popular right now, due to their gold/gear farming ability and solo prowess. Many of them are being used to fund secondary characters that are considerably more reliant on gear and grouping to succeed. If you were to avoid any classes, these two would be my suggestion. Particularly necros, since they're largely unwanted for 50 RvR and contribute comparatively little to the realm.

Least played classes relative to their usefulness would likely be mercenaries and paladins. Mercs bring melee DPS, and paladins are vital for tanking and endurance chants.

Ultimately, however, stick with whatever suits your playstyle, once you find it.

Don't know if you are new to DAOC or not, but playing _the_ least played class in classic daoc is a vastly different experience as in some of the newer MMORPG's where few classes are terrible choices. Also playing a class that is rare does not mean people are interested in interacting with said class. Since it takes a long while to reach late game for most, you will only then realize _why_ this is the least played class. keep that in mind. Sorry if you knew all of this already ;)

I guess I should've specified as the most sought after classes rather than least played. More so, what is everyone looking for constantly in chat

From a PVP perspective:

Mercs and Arms.
NOT Paladins. You only need ONE per group and there are too many of them, and too many of them are 2h.
On the other hand 25% of the Albion pop should be Clerics so you cant be wrong rolling one.
Minstrels, theurgs, cabalists and sorcs are also in high demand.

But since you are specifically asking for a "non saturated" class i would say go merc or arms.
