minst question

I am new to this server and I have been reading a lot about OF RA's and things changing. I used to play a minst on live servers and found a thread talking about how minst are bad at getting groups in RvR. Has it changed any? Is there any value in a minst running with a full group?

The simple answer is yes minstrels do find it difficult to get in an 8man RvR group.
However they are still alot more popular than Wizzies/Friars.

In future Old Frontiers Realm abilities will replace the current set... this means minstrel is the only class to recieve SoS. SoS is an important ability and will increase the chance of minstrels being incorperated into an 8man setup..

Also Det is removed from hybrids, i.e reavers (amongst others) and hence they will be grouped less.

(i think the bugged interupt code is what is hindering minstrels mostly and if fixed they can reach their potential.

With old ras minstrel should find group easier because

- SOS (Nobody else has it. And it works like a group charge wich prevents you to attack if you are CCed tho)

- Second Demezzer (Since there is no more purge every 15/5 minutes a second demezzer will be more important).

- Speed (Almost any RvR group in Emain runs with sorc speed + perma sprint thanks to Paladin's endurance chant. Since Paladin loses Determination it might be replaced with Arsman+Tireless+Endu Pots with Old ras. Sorc speed without sprint is so slow imo :D)

if rupt code is working before 1.69 launches, it would be hard to understand why anyone wouldn't want to run a decent minstrel.

The "old" SoS is even stronger than the new one.

The old RA SoS has Speed 6 with sprint = Speed 7 and the new only has Speed 4 so noone will ever catch you even with Speed 5 + endurun.

but is it right that you still can get CCed in SoS?
Means: you still can run, but cant hit till the CC ends.

I never played with oldRAs and heared about this ^^

So true. I hope it's the case, though i doubt it. Since i like minstrel alot more with NF RAs :( alot more grputility ra wise!

Yep, you can't do any actions as long as your cc remains.

Yep, you can't do any actions as long as your cc remains.

SoS is no purge.
It works like Charge if you have any CC on you you just don't get the benefit of SoS otherwise you get it and you are immune to any kind of CC as long as you don't attack or the timer is over.

Old sos make you get an uninterrumpible speed you could keep attacking and still get the speed with no problem, aye you cold be CC , but still can run freely around map till sos or cc runs out.

He was talking about Old RA's SoS, which simply gives you movement increase, regardless of CC, but does not do anything to remove or prevent that CC.

Old SoS is simply a "trump card" for your movement speed as long as the RA is active, it does nothing to effect the CC spells you have active against except for the fact that it gives you the modified movement speed.


But if purge is up, or you have DET5, old SoS is the tits.
